My Acer TravelMate 4672WLMi laptop keyboard diplays the @ key when shift inverted comma is pressed and the reverse with the @ key. The backslash key produces the # key. Any suggestions James South Africa

I think you may have the wrong keyboard template loaded?
To my knowledge there could be only 2 reason for this prob, either the keyboard layout might have changed or because of some virus.
do the following to check whether the input keyboard layout is correct.

Control Panel--> Regional and Language options--> Languages tan--> Details--> make sure you have only US in the installed services and not United states- Dvorak, or some other wrong one,
if you have any click on US and click on apply everything should be fine.

Hi James

Thank you for your query

Your keyboard settings seems to have gone a bit funny

Please try the following

1) Click Start>Control Panel>Regional and Language Options
2) Under the tab Regional Options ensure that the standards and Location are correct
3) Click on the Languages tab and then click on details and ensure the language is correct
4) Click Apply and then OK

This will resolve the issue for you

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

How do I access the question mark

All you have to do is hold the SHIFT key down and then press the BACKSLASH (/) key. This should allow you to access your question mark character.

Here is a link to an image of an ACER Keyboard:

http://www.laptopbatterysell.com/images/Acer-Aspire-One-Laptop-Keyboard-Black.jpg

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

You can see the QUESTION MARK / BACKSLASH key near the lower right hand corner of the keyboard in that image.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

I just bought a brand new Acer Aspire One and have keyboard issue

It's most probably a shipping damage. The keyboard is connected to the mainboard using a very thin and very breakable plug. They use this kind of plus so that they can save up space. You should get another laptop or a full refund since it is not your fault.

Go to control panel and check the regional and language settings. make sure it all says English and/or United States, if you are in the states that is, otherwise the keyboard will be different.

Two keyboard keys seem to have been transposed

Yes when going through the setting up procedure for your new computer you should have installed the British keyboard instead of the US one.

Doing the above will correct your problem.
