I have a Brother HL2040 laser printer which jams every 10 - 15 pages of print. I have checked the paper path and there is no debris, checked the paper tray and that is set properly. I'm stumped.
I thought this was fairly clear. The printer jams periodically every 10-15 pages. It doesn't necessarily have to be a multi page document it could be 10-15 individual documents. This is per the user, I do not use the printer myself but charged with the task of tech support. For the cost of a technician one I could just replace it but I really hate to fill up land fills with stuff like this.I thought this was fairly clear. The printer jams periodically every 10-15 pages. You have to know the paper path of your printer (for any printer both laser and ink jet). Basically that's the path the paper takes from start to finish inside the machine. You'll have to check for any paper debris through the front and back. I would need some more information required to help further diagnosis this if you had paper jams in the past and last things done etc.
Open the paper cassete and check if you have load paper in it.The second thing you can do is to open your printer front cover, remove the drum unit and check for paper jam inside the printer.
try turning it off, diconnect from computer.. Leaving it disconnected, turn it on, when green light indicates it is ready, tap the green go button 5 times real quick.
this should print a self test, if that works as I suspect it may, it is because the document that the computer is trying to print is not the same paper size as set on printer or trying to print to wrong trat ie bypass, ensure paper type is set to plain too.
If a test page tried to print but then came up out of paper, check there is nothing stuck in paper path (rear door?) and if game, give rubber feed roller a clean
Chances are and I;ll lay me bet 10-1 that paper size of document is different than tray setting and placing a sheet of paper in bypass(slot at front) is what your machine is trying to say to you. see how ya go..cheers
Sounds like the fuser is causing the jam. Anything from a dislocated pic finger to other paper debry can be causing these types of jams.
If you open the back door, will the page exit the printer fine of does it still jam?
If it still jams the fuser is definatly the problem. If it dosen't, then it might be the delivery assembly causing the jam.
You might be able to see where the jam is happening if you print something and watch it though the back to see where the paper catches and jams.
Make sure to clean all the rollers you can see and make sure to check the paper sensor, and clean all rollers and paper paths with some Isopropyl Alcohol (AKA rubbing alcohol)

Call a technician or only print 9 at a time.
