Check drain trap for restriction
If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves turn off.
This error code is only shown in Diagnostic test.
Possible Causes/Procedure
- Ask the customer how much detergent they are using and if it is HE
detergent. May have too much suds present causing this condition.
- Turn washer ON to verify pump operates; run the drain cycle.
- Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
- Unplug washer or disconnect power
- Make sure that wire harness connections at the Drain Pump, Pressure SW,
& CCU (DP2, PR6 cavities) connectors are not broken or with wires detached,
and that connector internal pins are visible.
- Check continuity from the Drain Pump & CCU (DP2 cavity) connectors.
- Check continuity from the Pressure SW & CCU (PR6 cavity) connectors.
- If the continuity diagnosis failed, Main Harness must be replaced.
- Make continuity test to the Pressure SW. See page 8.
- Check the resistance of the motor pump. See page 8.
- Plug in washer or reconnect power.
- Run the drain cycle.
- If the failure continues, unplug washer or disconnect power.
- Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
- Disassemble the drain pump from the washer.
- Check that the impeller is not detached from the motor shaft. If the
impeller is detached from the shaft, is broken or has any scratches,
the drain pump must be replaced.
- Plug in washer or reconnect power.
- Verify the unit operation by performing the Diagnostic Test cycle.
See page 5.
- After the diagnostic test has finished, unplug washer or disconnect
power and wait for 15 seconds.

What does code f21 on a whirlpool duet mean?

The Whirlpool washer error code F21 means the washing machine has a "water draining issue", meaning the drain pump itself, or the drain hose is clogged and the washer is having problems draining the water out. In other words, the washer is taking too long to drain the water out of the tub.

Hello I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport Mdl# WFW8410SW00. The washer turns on but does not run. Error code is F21. Can you tell me what code means?

F21 is a long drain error. This could indicate that there is debris in the "coin catcher" in front of the drain pump, a clog in the drain hose or a problem with the drain pump. Unlikely problems include a wiring fault between the drain pump and the control unit, a problem with the pressure switch or the stand pipe that the drain hose goes into is clogged.

First unplug the washer. Disconnect the drain hose and check for any foreign material. When you reconnect the hose, make sure that it isn't kinked. Check the stand pipe while you check the hose. Next get a bucket ready and remove the lower front panel from the washer. Open the drain filter and check for debris. Water will probably come out of the washer. (If this area is dry, then check the wiring and pressure switch.) Check for any damage to the impellers on the pump. Replace the pump if it is damaged.

The parts diagram is available here: https://www.appliancepartspros.com/parts-for-whirlpool-wfw8410sw0.html . I hope this helps.

My whirlpool washer duet sport is not draining water out and displays error code f-21

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F21 indicates long drain, this error occurs when the drain time exceeds 8 minutes. To resolve this check the drain hose and make sure it is not kinked with any foreign particles; also clean the drain pump filter for any clogs. Also check if the pump is running fine. If still the issue is not resolved after all this then you might have to replace the pump. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

What does f21 on washer mean?

Hi, this advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model FRONT LOADERS displaying the “F21” error code.

“F21” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

  1. First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
  2. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
  3. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
  4. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.
To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

Take care

Whirlpool Duet Sport Error Codes?

My machine had the F21 code and the inlet to the pump was blocked with change, bobby pins, small rocks, pieces of fuzz and clothing. Removed the front cover of the mahine and removed the cap on the front side of the pump and cleaned this trap area out. The pump motor quit humming and the machine worked like it is supposed to!

Thanks
