Windshield wipers on 2007 VW jetta not swiping

The windshield wiper on the driver's side of my 2007 VW jetta is not swiping. It comes up about half way and then the passenger slide blade gets caught in the driver's side blade.

Wiper gears may be broken, got to junk yard and buy motor and gear assembly for windshield wipers, should only take an hour to change out.

I have a 2000 vw jetta, when i turn on wiper blades i can hear the motor but the blades are not engaged

Wiper motor arm disengaged or slipping on drive shaft.

Wiper arms slipping on splines at pivot point of wiper arm.,,,more likely.

Wipers are held to drive splines with a 10mm nut.

Make sure wipers are in in 'parked' position buy turning on ignition and making sure wiper switch is OFF.

Turn off ignition.

Pry off the black round plastic cover off the arm where it attaches at the splines. ( Drive splines on lower windshield cowl.)

Tighten nut/s.

Adjust travel of wiper arm on 2001 vw jetta

Adjusting for more or less travel isn't possible , but you can remove the arm off the stem and reposition it slightly to improve windshield coverage... Remember you only need to move it a little bit.

1999 Buick Centery passenger side windshield wiper

Sounds like you need two new wiper motors. I beliveve the gearing inside the motors are worn out and now theres alot of play in them. Try wiggling the wipers with you hands and see if you can feel any up or down / side to side movement.
