Hi, I had my bake element blow a week ago and just installed a new one. Neither bake or broil works now. Everything else works fine except those. Any ideas? Thanks

Typically what happens on on these models, when the bake element breaks, it sends a surge back to the oven control (or clock) and causes it to fail also. Sounds like this is what has happened here. If the overlay (touchpad) is a separate piece, you will need to buy it also. Let me know if you have any questions.

Maytag Oven. The bake do not heat, the broil is ok. what is the problem ?

Look at the wiring diagram... The manual reset Thermal Limiter Switch (part number 74008715), located on the lower rear insulation retainer can keep both elements from working, not one at a time... I would inspect the back of the bake relay for a burnt/failing solder joint. Swapping the BAKE and BROIL leads is an acceptable test, but if you put the bake leads on the broil and still get no heat: check the control relay. If the broil leads will not heat the bake element, you have a bad element or bad connection. Be sure to do all testing of the elements with at least one wire detached so as not to red a back circuit.

My top oven won't reach temperature. Convection and broil work, bake doesn't. Over a year ago I did a self clean...hasn't worked since. I really need it to work especially with Thanksgiving next week.

It does sound like the element may be bad. The control will cycle the bake and broil elements to even the heat in the oven. if the element is out the oven won't heat well.

Stove on bake didn't get above 265 and never red.

It is possible the bake element has gone out and just the broil element is heating the oven. It is very common that the broil element is either powered by 120 volts while the bake element is energized in bake or it is pulsed by an electronic control.

My frigidaire fef368gch was working fine and then the oven just stopped baking. It will broil but not bake. What causes this and how do I fix it?

Good Morning Shari,

I see that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire range, model# FEF368GCH, and the bake element not working while the broil element is. I suggest giving your appliance a hard reset, by shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 2-3 minutes. When power is restored, you will have to reset the clock by entering in the time and pressing start. Start a bake cycle, and if you notice that the bake element is still not working, I suggest contacting your local authorized technician. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Frigidaire oven fefl68 broil element comes on on broil only will not come on on bake or clean

Hello - - If you are referring to the bake element, but the broil element works then you would need to just replace the bake element. If both your bake and broil element does not work, then there might be a problem with the wiring communication. However, if the oven does not bake and/or broil but the cook top works; contact a professional to diagnose the EOC (electronic oven control).

Top element does not work in bake mode, but it does work in broil mode

The top element is a broil element and will not come on in bake mode just as the lower bake element will not come on during the broil mode

Bottom element doesnt work in oven, but top does.

NOPE!
  1. Broil element does not have welded-on legs and will touch the bottom of oven, overheating itself and will end up the same way your bake element did; besides, the bottom of the oven will corrode pretty quick
  2. Many ovens use both elements during bake cycle
  3. self clean cycle uses broil element
  4. The bake and broil elements typically have different mounting brackets and screw holes ate in different places
  5. you'd have to cover the hole, left after removing the broil element, and insulate the wires, which went to broil element
  6. the ends, protruding behind the mounting bracket may have different length and different connectors. you may end up shorting the wiring to the casing, which may in turn destroy the control board if there is one
  7. Bake elements usually cost only $40-$60. No jury rigging required.
Hope this helps ;)
Good luck!
