Samsung DLP TV shuts off

I have a Samsung DLP TV, model HL-S5086W that intermittently shuts off after about half an hour. Once it is warmed up, it can shut off once an hour or ten times an hour. I have a Samsung DLP6163W and it keeps turning itself off. Ten or twenty times then it will stay on for an hour or two. It is intermittant and is driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

First thing I would suggest is to check and make sure that the cooling fan is working properly. The lamp may also have an intermittent failure as well.
Do a visual inspection of your lamp. In your case check for a fogged condition. If the failure is intermittent, the lamp will look fine to the visual check.
The newer TVs have blink codes that can be use to determine if the lamp is defective. Check for the LEDs on the front panel blinking and count how many and the time intervals they blink.
If you need any further assistance, let me know.

Sounds like your power supply is going south...check the voltage coming out of the wall first

So, you have Two of these with same issue? I'd suspect the power source, since that's what they both have in common.

do you have a voltmeter around, to check the voltage into the device? Florida is known to have issues with power brownouts. You might consider running them from a UPS or battery backup system.

After turning off do the LEDs on the front panel blink on and off?
If so, you may have an issue with the lamp. Probably needs replaced or repaired.
