CMOS BATTERY i would like to know if any know were the cmos battery for the gateway 450rog i would like to change the cmos battery please help

    I know the Cmos hold the setting and i know it is on the motherboard but is it located on top behind the keyboard or under the bottom near the battery that powers the laptop

Gateway 450ROG CMOS BatterySmall internal battery that maintains calendar and clock settings.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not the battery that powers your laptop; it only maintains certain internal settings. If you need a main battery, please refer to the page on our web site for your laptop model.

CMOS batteries are located on the motherboard; if you are not comfortable with the inner workings of your laptop, you may want to consider having the battery installed by a qualified technician.

    The battery is under the keyboard....be ever so careful and I would highly recommend finding the step by step instructions for removing the keyboard...

I how do I replace cmos battery
Get in contact with Gateway before you change it. On some devices removing the CMOS battery and leaving it out for about 1 minute will clear all passwords, but please check with Gateway first, as it may result in you bricking your PC.

Bypass bios password for 450rog
When you turn on the host machine, enter the CMOS setup menu (usually you have to press F2, or DEL, or CTRL+ALT+S during the boot sequence) and go to STANDARD CMOS SETUP, and set the channel to which you have put the hard disk as TYPE=Auto, MODE=AUTO, then SAVE & EXIT SETUP. Now you have access to the hard disk.

How does one change the CMOS battery of the Gateway 450ROG PC Notebook
One should not need to. Laptop cmos batteries should last for many years. Some cmos batteries are soldered directly to the board, you would need to dissasemble the laptop to find out.
Not many manufacturers provide service manuals, they dont want the average person to try to take the laptop to bits.

Gateway 450ROG, will not start. Red DVD/CD ROM
I have the very same problem, the Drive light turns red, the screen is "black" and the battery charging light indicator on the front is off. No differance if I'm traying to power up on battery or AC-adapter.

Before this problem appeared I had problems where the laptop was powering off, with no warning, and I had to restart it. This happened several times and was going on for about a week before it died totally. Can it be the CMOS battery on the mother board? Anyone having clue what the problem could be?

You have to remove 4 screw on each side of square.
then you find motherbord chipset.
cmos cell is fixed on motherbord circuit.

reset ur system frm the Bios ie reset it frm the mobo or just remove the Cmos battery turn on /turn off put the battery back.that bios wont be there any more.

Gateway 450rog cmos battery
The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard, just under the bottom left side of the keyboard, by the letter 'V". It looks like a clock battery, marked 3V (volts). The battery comes out of its "cage/connector" by gently lifting it with a small flat screwdriver. Replacement CMOS batteries are inexpensive and readily available at any computer shop.
