How to get full picture on my tv?

First, ensure your tv is using the highest resolution possible (Usually 1080 for flat screens) by using an HDMI cable from the receiver to the television, and that you are on the correct input. Second, ensure your tv is not sizing the video by using the 'picture size' or 'aspect' or 'ratio' key on the remote that came with your tv (Not your DISH remote). Third, tune your DISH receiver (with your DISH remote) to an HD channel (for VIP model receivers, when you tune the channel to an HD channel, an opaque white 'HD' appears insude the blue box at the top of the screen). Fourth, hit the star key on the remote, while watching the screen. On the right hand side, near the top, it will cycle as you hit repeatedly the star key, the style of screen widening. Hit the key as often as you need to make the screen appear the way you want it to. The receiver will remember your setting for all HD channels. When finished with the HD channel, tune your receiver (with your DISH remote) to a SD channel (any channel in the guide that does not have the HD icon). Repeat the fourth step.

For Hopper/Joey family receivers, hit menu, settings, screen size. Follow the instructions to resize your screen to match your preference. When finished, repeat step four above on each an HD and a SD channel.

bestone890,

Go into the Main Menu. From there go to System Setup (6) -> HDTV Setup (8). Make TV Type 1080i and Aspect Ratio 16x9 and select Done. Your picture should now be showing a HD picture.

My tv is set up with a HD dish network receiver. How do I set up a stand alone sony blu-ray dvd player. when i have tried i got good audio but the video was poor and very red.

Because this is HD to get the best picture possible, you'll need to connect the DVD player separately from the receiver. The easiest way to do this would be to connect an HDMI or component cable from the receiver directly to the TV. When you need to watch a DVD just cycle the inputs by pressing the input or source button on your TV.

I have recently had dish network installed and now I cant get my DVD player to play I have tried contacting dish network for assistance and no one can figure out the problem. I have a LG TV

Hello! This is Dan with DISH Network customer support. have you tried cycling the inputs? If you have an HD tv the DISH receiver and your DVD are probably connected using different cables. I would power them both on and hit the input or source button on your LG remote until you get a picture from the dvd player. Remember what input comes up as you will need to change this to go from satellite to DVDand back.

Unhooked all lines in back of tv cant remember to rehook up have2

granmabj,

There are common connections to each receiver but there are unique connections also depending on the receiver. Solo receivers have a coax cable coming from the Dish outside connected to Satellite In. Duo receivers and DVR HD receivers have the coax cable that comes from the dish outside that connects to Satellite 1 and Satellite 2 using a splitter. There is also a cable (coax, RCA (yellow, white, red) or component (green, blue, red - video, white, red - audio) or an HDMI if HD) connected from the receiver to the TV 1. For a duo receiver TV 2 may be backfed on the cable coming from the dish outside using diplexers. This may sound confusing but you can call 1-800-333-3474 for assistance.

Toshiba CN36X81 television.. NO Sound... Great Picture. Using the TV2 output of a DISH Network HD receiver... TV2 output is std def, coax output. Using a different TV I get picture and sound... but not...

IF coming in via, the "Dish" networked receiver, please check that this volume is turned way up, on the TV. and then control the the Volume, with the Dish Remote, often this is a problem, as one is turned down, and the other cannot turn that up, simply try syncing the Volume controls, UP on TV, control the Audio with dish remote. thats all i can think of. Check by feeding a signal IN from an AV, source, ie: Yellow, Video, & Red& White, Audio. Turn TV UP and check, IF it responds to this all is well. If NOT then you do indeed have a fault, with the TV.

I have an LG all in one home theatre system, LCD TV and Direct TV satellite box. It is all hooked up and working fine except I only hear the sound through the speakers when playing a dvd or radio. The...

OK. For all you regular Joe's like me here's the fix--plain and simple! I have Dish Networks HD receiver, an LG Home Theater System (LHB953) and an LG HD Television - although I suspect this applies for most LG TV-to-LG Audio Systems used in combination with a HD TV). My problem lied within the LG to LG setting known as SIMPLINK which tries to "auto-configure" everything between LG to LG devices.

Do this to make your HD TV (using Dish/DirecTV) play it's HD video display from the satellite provider but play the audio over the LG surround sound speakers:

1. Plug a HDMI cable from your satelite receiver's set-top-box to your HD TV. This will carry your HD "video" ONLY. Click "Input" on the TV remote until the HD video signal shows your desired TV channel from your satellite provider.

2. Plug an HD Optical cable (the one with the red laser) from your LG HTS (Home Theater System) to your satellite box. This will carry your HD "audio" ONLY.

3. This is the magic everyone seems to be overlooking. On the LG TV remote, go into the menu options and disable SIMPLINK by setting SIMPLINK=OFF. This feature allows the video and audio signals to be split over 2 different ports: HD video goes over the HDMI cable and the audio to go over the HD Optical cable.

Hope this helps!

Hooking a Wii to Dish Network reciever(not a hd tv)

It sounds like you have a pretty new TV. This means that there should be multiple AV jacks in the back for setting up your many components. Plug in the receiver into #1, the Wii into #2, and any other equipment you may have (DVD, VCR etc.) in the same way. You should then use the original TV remote to switch between Video 1, 2, 3 and so one for each compnent you want to use. The button on the remote will be labeled video, tv/video, input select, or input, something like that.

Hope this helps!!
