When it leaves the map screen, it's like you touched the screen and it goes to the menu. It jumps through the menu screens like you keep tapping the screen.

When the map screen leaves, it goes to the menu screens and jumps through them like it would when you keep tapping the screen.

A bit more info is needed? What happens when the map screen "leaves"? Which screen then appears?

I cannot answer your question or fix your problem as my Tom Tom 920 has the same problem. I' ve contacted Tom Tom with it and they first sent me a program http://us.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6211/?locale=en_US to clear the flash memory, it seemed to work for a while but since the proble occured in Europe and I was back in Canada could not test it. The same problem occured again last weekend and I spent a whole day yesterday with Tom Tom help in trying to fix it with no success. Did hard reboot, formated the internal disk and installed updated maps did not help. I agree with the comments taht the screen is the problem and it seems that the problems only appear in warm or hot weather. Tom Tom has not been helpfull at all to trying to fix the problem and would not even give me an address where I could get it fix, now thats very poor customer support for you. They told me I was on my own in trying to get this thing repaired, lovely, I'll never buy anoother Tom Tom device again

Its sounds like a problem with the screen then. If it is still under warranty, return it

I think I am being thick. I have a tom tom go 920 t and I cant find the maps of north america only the england and europe ones what am I doing wrong as it should be pre loaded?? thank you xx

Zoom waaaaay out and look over here ;-]

I've run into that myself and the easiest way is actually to search for a known adress on the map. You can browse but it takes longer as you do zoom out and scroll and then zoom and scroll until you stay on the area. I usually just google up a building where I want to look and search for that address and go from there. At that point you can add poi's and easily come back to the map area..

Flashing X on start up

If you have a memory card in then remove it press the reset and try to start up again.

This problem is usually the way the memory card is formatted.
I solved mine by doing a search for "format tom tom memory card" or "format tom tom SD card"

After I had done that I backed up my TT then put the card in and then restored to the card and all good from there on.

Tom Tom 920

Your Favorites are located in the Map directory in the TomTom.
For example if your using the North American map (North_America).
In a file named MapSettings.cfg.
When you update the map and some times the application this file is overwritten.
I recommend copying the file to the root directory of the TomTom or your computer if changes are made. That way you have a easy back-up of your favorites file.

Unfortunately to recover your old file you may damage other file in the process.

I hope this helps.
