Sorry, there are NO Visioneer drivers available for your scanner. Unfortunately, that model was one too soon for them to develop the drivers since it's been discontinued a while back.

However, within Vista Support, there are ways to install the scanner and while you may lose some functionality, you should be able to scan, at the very least, pictures -- IF Vista has 'generic' Visioneer-type drivers within it database. (Meaning, when you plugged it in to the computer and turned it on, did it find the scanner, but not the EXACT model? If it found A scanner, I'd let it install those drivers to see if you can get it to scan, etc. through the Photo Gallery, etc.)

IF you're successful with Vista recognizing the scanner, you would go through Vista's Window's Photo Gallery and/or Window's Fax and Scan -- as well as downloading 3rd party OCR software (like AbbyReader) and/or TWAIN drivers that are compatible (another whole level of "technical"!)

If none of the above works you may want to replace the scanner with one that's supported.

Good Luck!

Just brought my SCX 4100 into use in my office, worked perfectly at home on a Windows XP system but in the office on a vista system the printer works fine, the copy function within smart thru 4 functions...

Did you install the correct driver including the scan driver? The drivers are available at the Samsung Site: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SCX-4100 . Click on the Driver tab for most or the Software Tab for the SmarThru4 program. Make sure to get the correct version for the OS on the office computer. Generic OS drivers often only run the printe, not the scanner. Uninstall the generic driver before attempting to nstall the Samsung driver.

Next check the data cable. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and can fail when the printer works.

I hope this helps.

I need help with a windows 7 driver for SP-c210SF. does anyone know where I can find a driver that works?

There isn't currently a Windows 7 driver available for this machine. You can attempt using a Vista driver or the driver may be available embedded within the Windows 7 software. Worst case, you can use a generic driver such as the HP Laserjet 4 driver. Using this driver should get you printing but may not allow machine specific functions. It is available from within the Windows 7 software.

Will not work with Vista operation system

Correct. There is no easy solution for this issue. Several of the "older" scanners are no longer supported through the Vista operating system. Why not purchase a new multi function printer, scanner, fax and copier unit.. you will not locate vista drivers either online or from the manufacturer and without them, the scanner will not function. Alternatively, you could also roll back or re-install Windows XP operating system..

Genius and Vista

There are two common ways to software-connect scanners
to windows:

1) The TWAIN driver interface
2) The WIA (Windows image acquisition) driver interface

===========================================
WIA is a driver interface native to Windows:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Image_Acquisition

TWAIN is a driver interface specific to each scanner
===========================================

Most new scanners should support both driver interfaces !

TWAIN is preferable, if you can find it, because it is tightly
coupled to the scanner's hardware design, and therefore offers
more functionality, which is hardware specific.

WIA, on the other hand, is more generic.
It will work with many different scanners, but with reduced
functionality, especially in the tools and setting available within
the scanner control window that pops up every time you try to
scan a document from within an application.

If you cannot find TWAIN, you may have to settle for WIA.
(if it will run with your hardware)
=====

This biggest problem, of course, is VISTA itself, and it comes
in two flavors, depending on your computer CPU:
64-bit and 32 bit.

64-Bit Vista drivers are the hardest to find.
32-Bit Vista is a DOG, because the software is too bloated
to run on a 32 bit machine.

Fancy colors and GUI not withstanding, 100% of the added
"new functionality" within Vista is for the benefit of Microsoft
and the scumbags running Hollywood. Vista hi-jacks your
expensive hardware resources and slows down "YOUR"
machine at "YOUR" expense to promote Microsoft's
insestuous relationship with the Sony movie studios and
the RIAA.

I strongly recommend to all my clients to stick with XP for
now, and avoid Vista like the plague.

I do !

Martin
