I own an old Sanyo VCR VWM 680. I have not used it for quite sometime & lost the remote control. I need to use it as my cable channel selector. Since its in the VCR mode, i cannot switch it to TV mode to activate the channels. Do you have any solution to this problem? Thanks.

Actually the tuner is in the vcr mode.
to get the channels to set,you have to autoprogram the tuner, and then they can be changed using the up down buttons.
rca make a universal remote for 10 bucks that will run that vcr

Our Sanyo VWM 680 will not change channels with the uo & down buttons, Can we get that fixed?

It's possible that all that has happened is that the plastic has snapped which press on the control. All you need to do is remove the front panel and glue or melt the switch (with a soldering iron) back in place. Any TV engineer should be able to do it if you can't yourself.

I lost my sanyo remote for vwm950 vcr

Buy a universal remote (Wal-Mart) and enter the code for Sanyo VCR. You should get all the major functions of the original remote.

Have cable tv and wanting to tape a certain channel

I would suggest that you disconnect the VCR from any signal source. UNPLUG the VCR from the power source [a/c] for at least one hour, more if possible. Before you are ready to plug the machine into a/c attach an antenna to the antenna INPUT, the VCR output goes to input of tv. [ DON'T attach cable box, or any such machine to the input of VCR.] Plug vcr into outlet and turn ON. Place TV-VCR switch on TV. [no remote control??] Change the channel MANUALLY, one channel at a time. If you see tv stations as you change the channel [KEEP changing until you have reached the " end of the line " of broadcast channels.] then you are good.Connecting the vcr to a cable box[ANY KIND!] you can only RECORD through the vcr what you watch on cable.

Remote control problems

I would love to say we can help, but the truth is, you remote needs to be replaced. One of the advantages to have the remote is that you wear out the remote, not the controls on the tv. And replacing a remote is much cheaper. You have done all you can to save this remote. You will need to replace it.

Will only display on ch 3

You will need to take the original remoter and go into the menu, find the channel set up and reprogram the VCR for the channels, as when you lost power the channels also went out because of the memory chips need the power to hold the data.
