I have a JBL GTO 1201.1 mono amp and I have a kicker L5 solo baric with dual 2 ohm coils how do I run it to get the full power out of my amp?

You will not be able to get the full power from the amp without ruining your sub. The amp puts out full power into a 2 ohm load so option -A- is to just run one coil off the sub and it will absolutely pound -until you roast the coil.Then you can use the other coil and roast that one too. But since you do not want to roast anything-first thing to do is take it to the store and trade it in for a dual 4 ohm sub-wire the coils in parallel and there's your 2 ohm load to achieve max power from the amp. Problem there is that you will have WAY too much power for the sub to handle and you'll blow it anyways (in time).Best thing you can do is get an identical sub(dual 2-ohm) wire the coils in series which will make them 4 ohms per sub then parallel the subs to get back down to 2 ohms overall-you get max power from the amp and hopefully enough speaker to handle it.Hope that helps.

How do i install my L5 solo barics to a 2 channel amp if there is only one connection on the enclosure next to the vent? If I bridge the amp to 1x1000W will the power distribute evenly between both...

How do you wire l5 to 2 ohm

Hello lholt07,

If the L5 has 4 ohm voice coils, you simply wire both voice coils in parallel, both marked and unmarked positive terminals together and to the amp and likewise with the negative terminals. If the L5 has 2 ohm voice coils, it cannot be wired to 2 ohms.

Solo x 10 dual 2 ohm smells burnt and smoke

there is no such speaker as a solo-X L5.
The Solobaric L5 is 450Watts RMS and 900 Peak.
Check your documentation, and no warranty except Massive Audio covers Burned Voicecoils as it is deemed customer abuse.
If it is a typo, and not an L5, your combination (as long as each is level matched) should be ok to run on that sub. When wiring it as you describe, the two amplifiers need to be identically matched in order for both coils to play at the same level.
Seek professional installations so your warranty is intact.

12" kicker l5

Series is +amp to +1, -1 to +2 , -2 to -amp . This way you have wired the two voice coils into one higher impedance voice coil.

Wiring my kicker solo-baric 15's

The best you can do is connect the dual 2 ohm voice coils of each respective sub in series (4 ohms total per sub) and then connect each sub to one channel of the amp. This will give each sub 1000W, which is the rated maximum from Kicker.

Hi yeahonda,

 

Your Kicker L7 Ohms may be too low for the MA Audio Mono block amp. The MA Audio Amp is probably 2 Ohm Stable. The kicker will either be 2 ohm or 4 ohm Dual voice coil.   To eliminate the low ohms as a possible threat to causing the map to go into Protect, Wire the kicker Voice Coils in Series.  This adds the ohms, so that you either have 4 or 8 ohms. 

I am using the following codes to show wiring. VC1+ stands for the Kicker  Subs Voice Coil #1 Postive post. AO+ is the MA audio Amp output positive.

 

AO+ to VC1+

VC1- to VC2+

VC2- to AO-

 

This shopuld give you 4 or 8 ohm depending on the 15" L7 setup.  Crutchfield does not carry the Kicker  L7 in 15" They do  have the L5 in 15".

 

If you know how to read a Volt Ohm Meter, set it to OHMs 20 and measure across VC1+ to VC1- and you should see between 1.5 and 5 ohms..  Do the Same with VC2+ to VC2-.  you should see the same voltage. Also read from the Voice coil metal housing to VC1+ , VC1-, VC2+, and VC2-. and you should not read any ohmage to the case. The meter should say OL, or -1.
