Of the Phillips is not a home theatre system them you can but you will have no volume co trol of the sub. If it is the alot of philips home theater in a box (htib) use special plugs...you would need to change the cable end of the sub to a compatible plug.
So is the DVD part missing? There is a VCR / Aux input on the back but it is for audio only. There are no video inputs so if the DVD is not included in your sub/speaker system, you'll be limited to audio only. First, you'll need to connect a TV to your system using one 'Video Out' cable methods so you can see the menu for the remote control changes on the system. From here there are 2 options:
Connect up a working DVD player directly to your TV using the best option available. Use the audio outputs on your TV to connect to the VCR or TV input on the system box. (Using standard RCA cables.) You may need to enable the external audio outputs on the TV. (Check the setup -> audio menus etc.)
You can use this as an audio amp by connecting a RCA cord from the a DVD R/L audio outputs to the VCR-Aux input on the amp box. You will need to run a separate video feed from the DVD directly to your TV. (Select the desired input on the TV to watch a DVD.)
You'll need to do a lot of switching back and forth with multiple remotes to get everything working, but the speaker setup can be made useful if it still works.
