I purchased a Janome 10001 about 6 years ago with the customizer 10000. My computer has crashed and I need to reinstall my customiser as it has been lost in cyberspace. I cannot find the CD. What options do I have as I require this program to access my designs

Have you got the cable that is compatible with your machine. If you are running Customiser 10,000 on your computer it should be fine otherwise it could be that you are running Windows7 not sure about that though.
If you have the customiser software open the disk up to view the drivers the driver may work with the win 2000 if so it will look for JSMC and install it. If this does not work try right clicking on the customiser icon and see if you can run in compatibility mode, Otherwise you may have to use a SD card and only transfer to that.
I'm assuming you are refering to the auto tracing function of the program. Customiser 11000 is a very limited layout and editing program, it's digitising function is extremely limited.
What is never explained satisfactorily to the purchaser, is the requirement for exceptionally clean artwork. Scanned photographs, colouring book images etc are not clean artwork. You need vector clip art, optomised clip art you find on the web is too "dirty" and needs a great deal of "cleaning" in a graphics program. Use the WMF import function and source a decent supply of WMF clip art. Most commercial clip art collections offer WMF as an option as do the clip art for digitisers sites.
Another reason for your program freezing could be an underpowered video display card, if your computer has a shared graphics card you're underpowered. Also your Ram, Customiser 11000 is a CAD based program which uses a lot of ram playground and a lot of your display cards muscle, whatever the programs specs are, triple them.
Check which version of the program you have, then visit Janome global, select downloads, software , and see if you have the latest version, if not, download the newest version.
When you backed up you probably only backed up documents. The executable files that make the program work are in program files and folks seldom back up program files. It was pre-installed on your pc? How weird. I believe the only thing you can do now is to go buy Customizer 11000. Check ebay and the yahoogroup sewitsforsale to see if there are any used copies. It's not an expensive program, and frankly, you don't NEED it if you have Embird, which does all Customizer does plus more.
