I have Samsung HL-S4266W DLP. It's about 1 year old. Just began seeing what appears to be 'haloing' on all channels. My neighbor calls it 'crunching'. It doesn't matter what source I use (ie...ant, cable, HD or otherwise) it still has the problem.

White dots appearing on Samsung TV screen and multipling each day

It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.

Have you checked the lamp? If the tyv is 3 years old and the lamp has never been replaced,it's time. The crackling noise also sounds like a blown lamp.
