Bought a 4gb pro duo and when it is telling me no disk inserted in psp. when i try to format on laptop it tells me unable to format, the file properties is showing RAW and size is only 197kb Can we fix

If you have formatting software, you will need to use it and format the disk to fat32 file system (not ntfs).

• 1 Insert the problematic 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo into your PSP and turn the system on.
  
• 2 Select "Settings" from the cross media bar and scroll down to "System Settings." Press "X" to access the sub menu and select "Format Memory Stick."

have you tried formatting the memory stick. go to settings>system settings>format memory stick this helps about 7/10 saving file problems. my experience has been that you get a better format if you have your psp connected to your pc and format it that way. this could have been a problem with your existing memory stick but i don't know why it did it to the new one... hmmm

If it is having trouble formatting in a PSP try taking it out and formatting it on your PC in Windows. Hope this solves your problem!

Are you formatting it with your computer or PSP?

1. Push the little HOME button on the bottom left of the face of the unit.
2. Use the arrow keys to move to the SETTINGS area, then move the up and down keys until you get to System Settings.
3. Once you are there, click on the "X" button and scroll up and down as needed to find Format Memory Stick. Click on "X" again to select that option.
4. The Sony PSP will now confirm that you want to reformat the memory stick (which removes every file and game save thereon, of course): choose yes and it'll format in just a few seconds.

It that doesn't work - try formatting it with your computer.

There are certain folders that the PSP puts on the stick when it formats it. Format the new stick on the PSP first. Then, you can transfer you files to it.

try formating the card using a digital device such as a camera or a playstation portable (PSP)

Format it with your PSP not your PC, you pc will read the format from your psp but not vice versa because you are probably formatting it NTFS and not FAT16 or FAT32, the psp has its own way o formatting it. Thanks

I had this problem and figured out a easy fix.

1. Take out memory stick from psp
2. Plug in usb to psp and start usb connection
3. Psp will recongnize there is no memory stick inserted
4. Now insert your memory stick and your good to go

For some reason you might have to repeat these steps everytime you want to access your memory stick.
