Kenmore refrigerator won't cool, but freezer does.

We have a Kenmore fridge model # 106.56239400 and the fridge side is set to the highest setting and is just barely cooling-not cool enough to store milk. The freezer side is fine. We had a tech out today from some fly-by-night company and he couldn't figure out the problem. After talking with his boss on his cell phone, the boss decided it was the computer board. If it is in fact the computer board, where is it located, can I pick one up, and is it difficult to replace? any help is greatly appreciated as they claim this fix will cost $400.00!! Refrigerator section is too cold, even on lowest setting. Have freezer setting on the coldest to keep the small door between refrig and freezer closed to keep cold air from freezer out. Would just unplugging for awhile reset everything and solve problem or would it be another solution? [email protected]

Tried setting controls in middle position, but refrigerator started freezing some things. Left the freezer control on normal and set thr refrigerator control to almost off, and it still gets cold enough to freeze some things. Could this be a thermostat problem? If so, is that something I could replace myself? Is this located right behind the controls, inside the metal cover that houses the light? Or would it be more likely the more expensive computer board or some other problem?

I have the same problem, but it comes and goes.  My brother-in-law works for Sears as a repairman, and he says that ice forms on the little fan between the freezer and the refrigerator.  He suggested using a hair blow dryer on the fan at the top of the refrigerator might help.  I've tried that, as well as shutting the whold thing off for several hous, and they both seem to work.

By closing that small door you are starving the refrig of cold air . you should be getting a heavy whisper of air through that door. place all controls in the middle position, close the freezer door and check for airflow through that vent.

What should the temp be for freezer and refrigerator?

dont know model, do know temps. The fridges highest temp is 5deg c, preferably between 1 and 4, if freezer goes above minus(-)18deg c your are in danger zone, there should be a regulator control in the fridge, usually on left or right hand side near front(door)

My refrigerator does not cool properly. The freezer does not have ice built up and the fan is working, I can here it blowing when i open the freezer. The freezer almost works too well, it is at its lowest...

The lowest setting in the freezer compartment may be set to cold holding back cooling to the refrigerator. Try your settings at mid-point on both refrigerator and freezer settings.
