I was just wondering the same thing. I found something that said unplug it from the wall, remove the plugs from the wii, and let it sit for 2 minutes. Then plug it back in (to the wall, not a surge protector). It worked on mine.

We were playing a game and the tv screen went black then we ejected the game and the wii console will not shut off and now it wont play a game or nothind then we tried to unhook it and the light stayed...

Power light is green or orange - TV screen is blank
If the power light is green or orange and your screen remains blank, follow these steps.
    1. Completely power down your system by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC Adapter from the Wii for a moment, then plug it back in.
    2. Make sure your Wii console has the most current Wii system menu. Download the latest update (how to), and then test your Wii console to determine if the problem has been resolved.
If you continue to experience this issue, there is a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired.

My kids were playing the Wii & the power went out. Now I cant get it to come back on. Any ideas?

hi the only real thing you can try yourself is resetting the power pack, to do this you need to unplug it from the mains and also unplug it from the wii, leave both ends unplugged for at least 5 minutes, doing this activates the reset procedure inside the power pack, then plug it back in and give it a try.

if it still dont work then the chances are you need to replace the power pack, the chance is the power pack got fried and not the wii as the wii only needs 12volts from the power pack so this shouldnt cause any harm as the power pack reduces the power down to 12v so if it wont work try replacing the power pack or try using a friends power pack just to test it with.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Kids got wii 4 gift from dad it worked fine was plying games on it wii sports came with it haves 5 or 6 games on 1 disc all could play up till not long ago kids not played on it for a little while but...

the Nintendo wii is a glorified dvd player with a few major exceptions. it sounds like the units optical pickup has dust or debris on it. try the
Wii Lens Cleaning Kit at amazon for 10 bucks. very common and simple fix.

Hi,

Unplug your Nintendo Wii for 30 Seconds, then try turning it on again.

This is a well known problem with Nintendo WII systems and is known as a power surge.

Power is on but screen is black

I found this [temporary] solution at http://www.wiierror.com/wii-black-screen.php:

(via email, thanks Steven) This happened to me once, but I fixed it. Here is how:
Eject the disk
Unplug the wii at the back
Wait 1 minute
Plug it back in
Turn it on from the remote
Press reset if it does not show up
Hold the power button to shut it off
Turn it on once more.
I don't know how, but it seemed to work for me. The problem happened when I was trying to load the Mii channel. Hope this helps !

(via email, thanks Andrew)
The first time I shut down my Wii, the light went orange (as it should). When I turned on the power with my wii remote the next day, the wii\'s light turned green but the screen was black.
The treatment was the same as from Black Screen, No Connection: Unplug the Wii\'s power supply unit, then replug; turn system on with wii remote.
The difference is: this problem can strike in more places than just by loading the Mii Channel. Also, I think the green light being on (yet there being a black screen) is a common symptom as well.

When you turned off the Wii, did the light turn red or amber?
If you haven't done this already, hold the power button until it shuts off, and the light is red. Power it back up and try your remote again.

Orange light on wii

That just means it's in sleep mode and can still perform updates. There's no problem at all.
