The application you are using is calling for a specific size or type paper in tray 1.

For example, you have "Executive" size paper and the job needs Letter size.

Easiest fix is to make sure your "Page Set-up" matches what you have in Tray.

Failing that, you can also, open tray 1, pull it most of the way out and then push it back in. This will force a re-read of the paper size. Then press the "Green" button.

If it still happens, use the "Print To File" check-box on the Printer Properties screen and then name the print file something like "tray1fail" and send it to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to run it through some of my file readers and tell you what the print job is looking for. There is no fee or charge for this. I actually enjoy reading print files.

My paper won't load - it pulls in about 1/4 of the sheet and then stops. I'm getting error code E3 and have checked for a jam but see and feel nothing. I've also used alcohol to clean the...

This is a paper jam error. Unplug your computer from the AC outlet and from the computer, next place the printer on a table or anywhere that you can get access all panels and the paper tray easily. Remove the paper tray and look for any pieces of paper that may be stuck in the printer. Look also around the back as there is usually a panel that can be removed without any tools.and check there. Also open the printer as if you were going to change the ink and look around there. Make sure you have plenty of lighting or a flashlight as even the tiniest piece of paper can trigger this error message.

Hope this helps.

I have a Lexmark T630 printer and every time I go to print it beeps and says change tray 1. How to I get it to not beep while printing?

You will need to change your paper handling.
From the machine, go into the Menu-> then Paper Menu -> Change your paper size and type to your machine settings. Example if tray 1 is letter make sure it's set to letter and plain, then confirm each tray setting for each tray attached to the machine.
Also pull the tray(s) out completely and make sure the guides are set correctly. (The guides move so you can put legal, A4 etc.)
I've come across a lot of machines that the guides are off by a fraction which will prompt your machine to display the message you stated.

Get the error message change tray to plain letter

Most probably the paper tray guide is not set properly. Here's a link to the Lexmark website to guide you on what to do when having an error like this. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/c4AO17 . You can move the paper tray guide back and forth and setting it to the correct size.

Everytime we print we get a beeping sound and an error message that says Change Tray 1 Plain Letter. If we press select, it will print

In the printer setup menu. You need to change the paper type for tray 1. It's likely set to a different type of paper (maybe card stock?).

The printer driver will specify what type of paper is being used, and the printer doesn't know what type of paper is in it other than what it is told, so a conflict occurs.
