Sapphire ATI RADEON 3850 PCIE 512mb---> Having problems with card driver. PC slows down whenever such driver is installed, both from supplied driver cd and downloaded driver from sapphire/ati website. I am running Vista32, freshly installed. Any ideas?

    Sirs,

All hardware requirements were met, except that I am using an Asus Motherboard with NVIDIA chipset, hehehe.

    Here's the specs:

    Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q6700

    Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus Motherboard

    2 x 2GB DDR2 667 RAM

    2 x 500GB Seagate HDD

Sapphire ATI RADEON 3850 PCIE 512mb

Arctic ATX Casing w/ 500W PSU

Might be the motherboard??? I just wanted to try out since our supplier told me that the motherboard could work with ATI Crossfire vdu cards.

    Thanks for your reply!

    More power!

I have a similar problem. Ati Radeon 3850 /512MB on an asus M2N-E motherboard with Nvidia chipset. My computer reboots itself from time to time. Changed memories, cpu, power supply just in case one of theese component might be faulty but no use, same results. Could there really be a conflict between Nvidia and Ati working togehter on the same PC? Tried even to browse the web for ideas and solid ideas concerning this issue but i came to the conclusion that Nvidia chipset doesn't like Ati vcards. Compatibility issues which i don't consider to be normal at all. Any other ideas?
Cheers.

Hmm..

did you uninstall driver of the previous graphics card you had on there ?

if not that may be it

also card may be overheating make sure it has enough ventilation.
Also check and make sure that any wires aren't touching or preventing the fan from spinning

or you may need more ram or change/update bios & settings

So which video card do i need? i have 845gl motherboard . before installing this video card (rage XL 8mb pci) my pc plays videos and most 3d game very (even gta sanandreas) efficiently but now it is not...

Hi,

The ATI Rage XL 8MB PCI video card is a very old and low power video card.

PCI graphics cards are not as fast as AGP graphics cards so if your motherboard has an AGP slot (it's the slot closest to the CPU and is usually coloured brown) then that would give you better performance.

These days AGP has been superceded by PCI-Express but since your motherboard does not have a PCI-Express slot then the best graphics card for it would be something like this one:

these cards do require that additional power be given to them from the power supply. Have you connected the card to your PC power supply via the 3 pin connector and power connector.

Also uninstall the driver via safe mode and let it redetect in normal mode then install the latest drivers for your card. Download from ati.com

No, the units will conflict with eachother. If you are using the add on card, you must disable the onboard card.

Graphics Card Compatability

Yes, it should work ok.. Your motherboard supports 1 x AGP8X, and since this card is 8x AGP, and includes a power adapter cable, it should be fine. Just make sure you have an adequate power supply (400watt+)...
