If that model listed above your post is correct then you may be hearing the water control valve buzzing and trying to open. If the ice maker works then the water supply is OK, but if the dispenser will not fill the glass the we need to have a look at the dual control valve on rear of refrigerator near floor and where household water enters your refrigerator. If your model is the PSS26MSRSS Profile/Artica the water control valve part number is=> WR57X10032 and unless it is frozen in the water reservoir inside fresh food compartment you mot likely hear it trying to open.It may need to be replaced. Here is what the part looks like=> WR57X10032 you can OHM the coil or check voltage while someone presses the dispense control and you should get 120 volts at the female connection. Lookingon the rear of fridge the blue half should be the dispenser side. I have been wrong before so please ask questions before you rate me. If need you may contact me here on Fixya or my Forum=> Appliance 911 My contact information is located above the Fixya Ad on my blog here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts and Technical Services, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Bunny Bear I was trying to help could you explain yourself a little better. You are my eyes and hands I can only go by what I have heard and seen in the past 30 years. It is not fair to me or anyone that offers free assistance to be pulled down with a negative vote. After I made it clear ( I have been wrong before so please ask questions before you rate me). You did this and I tried to help.

I'm not sure what you hear I have heard the dispenser switch stick like that and the water will not come out because of just what I said the first time. If you hear it and the water goes no place I am right. Tell me how can I help you without you writing me back?

The water dispenser stopped working. It makes a sound but nothing comes out. The ice dispenser works fine.

You have two points where you can check the dispenser water. At the rear where the water supply comes in is the water inlet valve. If you disconnect the dispenser water line and then see if the water comes out when you try the dispenser. You should hear the valve work when you try the dispenser. If you don't hear it there is a dispenser actuator switch problem. If you do hear it but water doesn't work here there is a valve or water supply problem. If it's normal, disconnect it at the bottom of the freezer door and try again. If it's normal here it may be frozen in the door. If this is the case open the door till it thaws. A blanket over the opening will prevent thawing of all the food.

Water Dispenser not working

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.

Water Dispenser

GodofHops: The motor that you hear on the refrigerator is the water pump that carries the water to your dispenser. If no water is coming from the dispenser. You have to check 3 things: 1. If there's any water. 2. Water filter clogged. 3. Water line for dispenser clogged with minerales carried on water flow. SithPitt
