You're closed captioning is all jumbled up on Seattle's KIRO TV from my DISH network. The cc works fine on all other channels. Dish says it's a network problem. Any response?

The CC is provided to DISH (and all cable/satellite companies) by the network that creates the programming. Usually, live TV (like news, sports, etc) is the most jumbled because of the time it takes someone to transpose what is being spoken as it is being spoken. If this is a network that is available OTA (via antenna), verify that the issue is not happening when you are receiving the signal from somewhere other than DISH (if you cannot receive an OTA signal, try at a buddy's house that uses another cable provider). If the problem occurs via OTA or other providers, contact KIRO to have them improve their CC service. If it only happens when viewed with DISH, contact DISH, who will then resolve the issue with KIRO (usually a lag time in signal transmission from the provider).

SOURCE: Dish Network - Dish 500 Satellite 110 is not being recognized

You will need a DP or Legacy twin or quad, or DPP twin without using an external switch. If you use Legacy Duals, or DP Duals you will need a switch. USUALLY a SW21 is used to combine the signals but you may have a different one in use if at all.

The primary thing to remember when using a switch is that you must use the same type of LNB as switch e.g. Legacy switches with Legacy LNB's and Dish Pro switches with Dish Pro LNB's.

Check your LNB type. Legacy LNB's have only a Dish Network Logo on them, Dish Pro has DP on them and DPP have DP PLUS on them.

One of three things could be the cause:

1. Line of site. Must be clear of all obstructions to ensure adequate signal.

2. You have a faulty switch, or conflicting LNB and switch, or no switch at all.

3 you may have a bad port on the LNB.

As a fail safe check that your mount is level and plumb. You also may have the dish pointed directly at 119. Check the Skew and elevation settings as well. If LOS IS THE ISSUE YOU MAY NEED TO RELOCATE THE DISH OR REMOVE THE OBSTRUCTION.

In some extreme cases microwave towers and High Voltage lines also pose a problem but doubt this is the case for you.

SOURCE: Need to Frequently Reset Dish Network HD VIP 612 Solo DVR.

When you bring up your guide look at the top of the screen and you will see the LIST: if this says ALL HD then press the guide button until you see ALL SUB or a menu and select ALL SUB. If your guide keeps changing by itself its possible to have remote interfence since you have a UHF remote, especially if you also see channel changes as well. Try setting the guide and go from there. If you still continue to have issues call 1-800-333-3474 for tech support for extensive troubleshooting or at dishnetwork .com/tech.

SOURCE: How do I get closed captioning on my 625 dish dvr....

Guest,

The 625 receiver does not have a setting to control closed caption. This is a setting from your TV itself. I would look at your TV manual to see how you can turn the feature on. I hope this helps.

How do i turn off the closed caption on my toshiba 51h84 tv? i tried setting via the remote and changed the CC option to OFF but i still see the closed caption wording...it is driving me crazy!! help!

What is the source of your TV signal: Cable? Dish Networks? DirectTV? Antenna?
Many times the Cable/Dish Networks/DirectTV controller also has an option for closed captioning. Please verify that a controller is not setup to deliver the CC data.
Also, try setting the TV CC using 'C1' or 'T1' and selecting 'Enter' to accept the change; then come back and set CC to 'Off' again to see if toggling on/off helps.

How do I get closed captioning to work on DIsh?

It all depends on the DISH system and the TV. For the most part the CC signal is carried on the cable from the box to the TV. Not sure how you have the DISH connected to the TV, but lets assume its HDMI. Connected this way you should be able to go into the TV settings (use the remote that came with the TV, NOT the dish remote) and go into the settings or menu. From there look for audio. In the audio menu is a section for CC. You should be able to turn it on from there. Or just check on the LG remote. They sometimes have a CC button that you simply push to turn it on. Hope this helps

Can't get closed captioning to work on westinghouse 46" 4680 led tv

What is the video source? Some set-top boxes send a closed caption signal that doesn't match the TV's CC interpreter. For those devices, you need to enable the captions on the set-top box.

I know how to enable captions on one particular Dish satellite box. The steps will depend on if your TV is TV1 or TV2 connected to the box. If the TV is TV2, you need to set the box in Single mode (so both TVs are set to the same channel). This is done with the Mode button on the box itself (highlight Yes and click Select using the Dish remote when prompted to go to Single Mode). If the box is in Single Mode, you won't get a prompt but the unit will go to Dual mode. There is a small LED on the box to indicate Single or Dual mode.

Next press Menu on the remote and go to Properties (9). Click Select and then navigate to Closed Captions (6). Click Select. Go to the Closed Caption On/Off line (1) and press the left arrow and then the up/down arrow to set to the captions to On. Press the right arrow and then Select with Done highlighted. Exit the Menu by hitting Cancel repeatedly.

I hope this helps.

Close Captioning on Dish Network VIP722 DVR Receiver

Christy Hartl,

I can definitely look this over with you. This sounds like it is on one receiver. It is possible it could be the equipment, but first I would like you to check something for me.

Go to Menu -> Preferences (8) -> Closed Captioning (6) -> Caption On/Off (1). Make sure it is selected for "CC is on." Once that's enabled, try it again. If CC's are still not showing, press 'Info' on the remote and see if CC is listed on the program. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cant turn off closed caption

sherrillbrom

With our VIP receiver models, you have an option to turn on/off closed caption through the receiver. Press the Menu button on the remote, which will display the Main Menu on the TV screen. Press 8 (Preferences) and then press 6 (Closed Caption). On the Closed Caption screen, press 1. On the Closed Caption On/Off screen, select CC Off and then press Done from the TV screen (using your DISH remote). This will turn the feature off on the receiver. Test to see if it is turned off by watching a program that has CC. If it still appears, then the feature is activated through your TV. Please refer to your TV manual to turn the feature off. I hope this helps.

CC Closecaption info appearing on tv channel cannot be removed. Is this a problem with the receiver, the romote control or the tv setup. This is very disturbing when watching the programs. Help..........

Hello, this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. DISH Network's 311 receiver does not have any way to enable Closed Captioning, so in this case the CC is being displayed because of a setting in the TV itself. Normally in the tv menus, (varies by manufacturer) there is a setting where you can have CC on/off. If you have the original TV manufacturer remote, there may also be a "CC", "Caption", button on the remote that would let you change the CC setting. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions please feel free to email me at [email protected].

My RCA has a black block come up in the bottom of the screen? We have Dish Network Satellite and have programed the remote from the remote code guide. TV volume and channel changer work, but picture is a...

This has hopefully been resolved for you, but if not, here are some steps to go through. The black box that comes on the screen is usually signaling that closed Captioning is activated on the tv. Closed captioning does not run through the DISH Network receivers, so you can turn that feature off in your tv settings. The fuzzy picture could be a few things. You will want to check that all of your cables on the back of the receiver box and tv are tight as possible, and also make sure that the tv is on the correct channel. If you are in the room with the receiver, the tv will need to be on channel 3 or 4, and sometimes an input; usually video 1 or 2. If you are in a number two room, where there is no receiver, than you want to make sure that the tv is on channel 60 or 73. I hope that this helps!!!!!
