F9-4 when cleaning upper oven

I have a Maytag Gemini electric stove - when I try to clean the upper oven I get the F9-4 code (which sites are saying is related to the lower oven?) When I try to clean the lower oven it works fine. When I receive the F9 -4 code on the upper oven the door appears to lock fine (I am not able to open it) and it moves to cleaning mode, but then starts to make an electical clicking noise. Shortly afterwards, the error code is displayed, the door unlocks and cleaning stops. Please let me know if you have a solution - thanks.

Its related to the self clean ltach motr, if you pull hte unit out and drop teh rear panel, approx halh way down on theright side( when behind unit) thers asmall lock mechinisn mavbe 1.5 round, with a connecting rod 2 wires and a witch, well that motor sometimes as it heats looses connection with the switch. the switch is monitoring door positoin so if it loses contact it thinks the door is open and will trigger a code. the entire latch is replacabel (FRont to back comesa sone assy latch motor swittch and rod. 2 wires connect it and 2 screws(by front latch secure it. if youtry to replaceit your self i giveyou the heads up to lie a yard stick on top of latch before removing old latch (thos will keep the insulation in place) andthen when installe ing new latch also use hte ayrd stick ontop to keep insulation inplace!!!!!

My Maytag was older than I thought, so the thermastat was not available on line, but found one at a repair shop that worked. Thanks!

Maytag Gemini Stove Code F1-4 (bottom door won't open)

F-1 error is a Temperature Runaway. It Maytag's way of letting you know that oven overheated. Nothing you have done but it may have shorted out the oven sensor or the keypad. Check the sensor and see if it's closed. If it's okay, replace the keypad.

Maytag Gemini Ga Stove/Oven 30"

Hello Steve
Welcome

You said , We lost the instruction manual...can someone show me how to turn on the self-cleaning function on both the upper and lower ovens? Thanks, Steve O.

The instructions are to long to put in here and will not fit.
so here is what you asked for at the original site.

Whirlpool owns Maytag now so your manual is at this site and the cleaning page starts on page 12.

Maytag MER6770 F1-3 code Serial #12650733ws

F1-3 is the code for the upper oven being over 950 deg F.
If the oven is now cool, then most likely there is a problem with the temp sensor in the upper oven.
You will need to remove the rear panel from the stove and check the resistence of the sensor to know for sure if it is bad. The only other way is to hook a new sensor to the harness and see if doors will unlock then.
Post back if you have any questions.

Maytag Gemini Electric stove fault code F 1-2 when using the oven(s)

The oven temp sensor has gone bad.  F1-2 would be for the lower oven and F1-1 would mean the upper oven.  If you give me the model # from the sticker on the oven I can direct you to a diagram, part #, and price.  These are very easy to replace.  Should be located inside the oven in the upper right or left hand side.  It looks like a silver rod about 4-8 inches long and crimped on the end.  Most of them can be removed from inside the oven by removing the two screws, pull out the sensor (harness and all) plug in the new sensor, put the screws back in and your done.  Some have to be removed from the back of the oven by removing the lower, larger back panel and follow the same process as mentioned above.  Hope this helps.
