My Dell Latititude E6400 Will not play CD's.

Once a CD loads it will hang after some time. Sometimes it will never load the CD.

Also the CD drive makes a clicking sound similar to paper running against the spokes of a bicycle wheel. I beleive the actual spinning mechanism is at fault that fails to spin the CD. The CD will spin for a few seconds and then slow down with a the same clicking sound and try to reload again. This processes repeats over and over again.

I have tried to load CD's after a freash restart and it still fails to work.I have tried the same CD on serval other collegues laptops, which are older Dell's, with less ram as well and its runs fine - glitch free.

The laptop is brand new and this is the first CD I've run on it.

Hmmm... well it sounds like you have a faulty cd drive. if your laptop is still covered by a warenty, then let the company fix it.

I have a E6400 that was freezing up with candy crush. Tried everything. Would clear cache/cookies and it would be fine if I didn't play games...but I did and it went ZAP and will not turn on,

Although I can't tell you how to get your laptop back up and running I can advice you of how to try to get the files from your old hard drive. This will involve small screwdrivers as you have to get your hard disk out of your Dell. There's a guide at http://youtu.be/CMyrVa3qihM. Once your hard disk is out you can fit it into an external hard disk caddy and attach it, via usb, to another computer. Caddies are available for around $20 from many electronics stores both on the street and online.

When turning on the laptop it goes to the Dell screen and stops with the "loading bar" at about 75%. When I push F12 it says "preparing one time boot menu" but goes no farther to choose...

This is your BIOS ( Basic Input Output System) screen. Before the computer loads the Operating system it checks to see if all the devices are there and ready. If the laptop hangs at that point, you might have a problem with your hard drive or CD/DVD drive. Try removing the drives and see if you get past that screen. Copy and paste the following link to your internet browser for details:

My monitor dell 1909w get frozen sometimes, i installed the drive and is not fix.

problems may not be with the monitor. hard disk failure is the most common cause. Overheating inside the computer can also cause your program to hang (may need additional fan or blower to cool it down). video card that cannot support high graphics requirement can also cause it (avoid playing or loading programs which require high graphics and memory requirements)

I was just given a Dell Dimension 3000 by my daughter, who said there was no problems with it. It has a CD-Rom drive and a DVD-RW drive. When I power it up and click on MyComputer, neither of these drives...

They probably can't load because they are loading at the same time and XP can't sort it out.
Remove the cable from the CD ROM and re boot but enter the BIOS and make sure it is no loonger there.
The nachine should load the DVD rom.
You can try adding the CD rom now, it may work but being XP it may grab the wrong driver again and hang up.
Download new drivers from Dell.com
Hope this helps.

My dell inspiron 1300/B130 will not load windows from the hard drive or from windows disks.thru the cd/drive Could there be a problem with the motherboard? I can load win 3.1 from my external A drive but...

Step 1 Check BIOS setting to make sure the CD is recognized by machine and is part of the Boot Order sequence. Preferably, the CD should be first in the boot order.

Step 2 Check CD cable connections to make sure they are tightly fitted into their sockets. Also make sure CD is plugged in and CD is getting power.

Step 3. Swap out cable ribbon. Sometimes these go bad. Hope this helps.

Dell xps desktop slot load optical disk drive stuck. Wont eject disk and no pin hole to stick a paperclip in.

It's probably a driver issue, I know this because I reinstalled WIN7 Pro, because of some experimenting and it was after the reinstall that media wouldn't eject using the touch-bar ejecter, although I was able to get everything else working flawlessly. No problem though, just open My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD Drive and click eject from the pulldown menu. Currently I'm looking for the driver fix, but haven't found it YET~! P.S. Anyone who thinks or says it's the BIOS is crazy... don't listen to them. It's more than likely a chipset driver because it's hardware, but don't rule proprietary software. Hope this helps~!

Try to purchase a CD disc cleaner, sometimes the "eye" gets partials of dirt on the lens. If that's the problem the cleaner will fix it in no time.
