Boss RT 1045 not powering up

When I bought the amp the seller said it needed some type of fuse "cap" for ground. He said that it was a big round fuse. I can't find anything about it and was wondering what he was talking about, and if that is something I can pick up and DIY my way through it or if I had to see some type of specialist for. Thanks for the help in advance.

I hook up a amp with red and black wire from the car stereo, then the stereo stopped turning on, why?

You probably blew a fuse. The power wires for a stereo can not handle the current an amp needs. An amp has to get it's power directly off the battery. Get an amp kit that has the power wire, ground wire, turn on lead, and fuse w/fuse holder. fuse the power no less than 12" from the battery.

Wont turn on i bought it though craigslist

well this is what you do to check it to see if you bought a blown amp.
wire it into your car and then take a digital volt meter check to see if you have power and ground and remote turn on .

take the red lead and put it on the battery wire at amp and the black lead to the ground then see if you get 12volt to 14.4 use the amps ground for the black test lead if nothing you may have blown fuse or bad ground.

check the remote wire same way as about if you get 12 to 14.4 volt it works if not could be blown from radio or bad ground

checking the ground put the black meter lead on ground wire and the red lead on 12 volt power source if nothing a bad ground.

if your get voltage on the remote wire and battery wire and have good ground then you need to call the seller and get your money back ..

For some reason my capacitor wont charge, I've checked everything! I just bought a boss cap3.5b and I know for sure the fuse is working there is power coming from the battery and the cap is grounded...

get a small led or something that runs on 12 volts. i use my 5 dollar 12v test light and hold it to the positive cable thats gonna be hooked to my cap.
hook the other side to the cap, it will light up the test light and in a minute or two the light dims and then goes out, after its out , the cap is charged......JUST DONT LET IT TOUCH THE OPPOSITE WIRE WHEN YOU HOOK IT UP OR YOU DISCHARGE IT and its not funny

Car amp smokes when ground wire is installed?

Chances are the amp was wired up wrong and you hook up the ground you are allowing an already damaged amp fry.

Capacitor not working properly

the power side has to be in line with the battery power side! The ground side to ground! The power that ran from battery (fused) to the amp power is used and cap is tapped in line, on that power lead! that way your amp gets power with cap charging and stable voltage to amp! taking stress off your charging system and better sound! good luck!

Turn off boss RT-735 CAR AUDIO AMLIFIER??

If you want to turn it off - Simply disconnect the remote wire or pull the fuse.

If it is turning off - there is a problem. Thermal shutdown, Grounded Voicecoil or wire, or load us under rated impedence.

Disconnect the subwoofer and power up the amplifier.

Any repairs will have to be from a service center, as repair parts and diagrams are not available from BOSS. The repar may end up being more than a replacement would cost.

Amlifer wont turn on

some amp has glass or plastic fuses along with a pic fuse a little green tear drop shape fuse on the board that plugs in like a fuse, see if yours has one of them if not then I'm sorry your unit is bad.
