The first place to check will be the caps in the power supply, look for bulging top/bottom seal. See example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

It'd sure help if I had a schematic with voltages and wave forms. This one (the one that flashes)had a new lamp installed under warranty last summer. I rarely purchase extended warranties, but in this case I did, but I'll have to check although I'm pretty sure it's now out of warranty. As far as manufacturing dates, I think they are pretty close. All came from the same store, but at different dates...maybe a couple months apart. They all get a lot of on time of around 8 to 10 hours a day...maybe more.
rhalstead, Monitor power supply is having a hard time lighting-up the cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps that are needed to provide raw white light on the reverse side of the glass lcd panel. You or a electronics technician will need to investigate problem down to component level to solve monitor's "iffy" lamp start-up symptom. Have you checked your warranty lately? I hope the other three have different manufacturing dates!. Were all three bought at same time, same place? Will you DIY fix or contract out the work? Post additional comment on what you are going to do. 12fixlouie
