I therefore have forgotten this username and the password. A reminder
is necessary please for me to proceed to update my nuvi. I would be grateful to receive this information. Thankyou.

I called Garmin and they gave me a simple procedure to fix this problem. Turn the nuvi off. Plug the nuvi into a mini-usb cable connected to your PC. Wait until the nuvi screen displays a picture a nuvi connected to a PC. Disconnect the nuvi and it's fixed.
It lasted a few months before the keyboard started losing letters again. I'm going to call again and see if I can't get a permanant solution.

Have you installed anything lately? Do you have any sd card installed? Usually this is the cause for it to crash. There is a reset on the bottom of the nuvi, when it locks up blank, press the reset button and see what happens...

Just go to http://www.garmin.com There will be a registeration link. Yes I think that you will get a free mapupdate with your registeration at least they used to do that. You will need your unit serial number and model.
