Hi,
You can do that by following ways:
1) If you have Windows XP (or vista), you should be able to restore your Laptop to its original condition (like just before the first restore point) by going to Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> click System Restore. Select an older date to which you want to restore and wait for the process to complete.

This solution assumes that restore points were enabled and previously activated.

2) Good chance that you may have received the "Restore CD/DVD" from manufacturer. Put that dvd in the drive, reboot your laptop, follow instructions.
Thanks. Do tell, if it did help.

Hi

Itwillbe one of two ways depending on the manufacturere

1) If when you bought the laptop you were given resotration CD's then it is a case of putting the CD in and then restarting the PC and following the on screen instructions

2) Other laptop brands have the recovery on the hard drive, in this case depending on the brand you will find it under

Start> My programs> Brand name

And this folder there will be something called system reformat, factory setting etc

Please leave feedback/vote if my answer was helpful

I just bought a laptop from the pawnshop and it has a password lock. how do you restore a computer to factory condition?

This laptop could have been stolen property, that is why there is a password lock.
I suggest you take it back to the pawn shop and get your money back.

Windows won't start

Your system is stuck in what is called a reboot loop. This could be caused by a virus infection, a corrupt Windows file, or even a virus. The easiest way to do this if you are unfamiliar is to take it to a local computer shop for a diagnostic. If your system has a restore partition, you could try to restore the system to the original factory condition, however, you will lose all data when performing this operation

The HD on my Toshiba A135-S4827 crashed. I bought

I see a couple of possibilities here.
  1. The replacement drive is not the same size as the original and the wizard is looking for a drive that size.
  2. There is also a possibility that the error is causes by bad RAM (0A-0543-0000 is a read write error) if you have more than one RAM module try the wizard with one module at a time, see if error is isolated to one or the other module or slot
  3. The Restore CD is dirty/scratched of has a flaw in the original write
  4. The optical drive is defective or dirty
So things you can try:
  1. Clean the media you are trying to restore from.
  2. Clean the optical drive with a drive cleaning CD.
  3. Swap Ram as suggested, replace defective if necessary (OS install is about most RAM intensive process you run on a system)
  4. Try a manual Windows install from a Windows CD not a image restore cd
  5. Try a drive the same size as the original

You can find them under "Automobile Restoration". I don't think you will be able to find anyone who can restore it to "better than new" condition.
