Hi there

For troubleshooting purposes,
Perform the following:

1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.

2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.

3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.

5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Another phony answer and testimonial!! This printer uses the newest color cartridge, all colors in 31 or 41 cartridge, not individual color cartridges. Solution doesn't apply to this printer and simply a defective cartridge. Errors on this machine do not say 2 cartridges of same color installed, NOT possible.

Solution doesn't fit the printer, I expect both solution and testimonial are phony. Too bad.

On my canon MX 310 printer I put in new Canon CL-41 Fine color cartridge and now the alarm light is lit and the screen says Check Ink U051 COL How can I correcty the problem?

You may need a new cartridge, that error says the ink cartridge is wrong or not installed properly. If it's a refilled cartridge it won't work, if it's a new canon cartridge, they warranty for 30 days from date of purchase.

Check ink UO59 COL

This indicates that you have a potentially defective ink cartridge. Pull out the cartridges and make sure that all wrapping has been removed from the nozzles and that the top side wrapping has been removed from the breather area on top. Reinsert the cartridges and make sure they snap into place.
If you are using non-OEM cartridges I would try OEM cartridges. Sometimes, non-OEM cartridge ink will gum up the printer.
Let me know if this solves the problem.

My Canon Pixma MP220 is has an error code U051 Chk Ink Blk Col, but i have just refilled my ink cartridges

Same thing happened to my MP220. U051 chk Blk and Colour. I got my colour one replaced as there was an electrical fault in it. So the solution is to replace whichever one has the electrical fault or both and it works just fine. Refilling only works for a certain number of times. 4 or 5 at most and mine only lasted 1, so not always successful.
