Samsung S800 My camera fell yesterday and now it won't turn on.The zoom does not extend.All I hear are three beeps and thats it.The batteries also became very hot after it fell because I forgot to take them out.What to do?

This explains the 3 beeps. also says you can get it repaired which is by far the best option. The behaviour is very typical of low battery state. Try a set of Lithium batteries.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

this problem is a is usual occurrence when the camera is not well powered.
ie. the battery might not have enough charge on it or might have gone bad and require you to replacei it.

please ensure you get the battery with right voltage and wattage, the required is usually written around or in the battery compartment.

Try to replace the battery with rechargeable ones.

And if that doesnt work, call 1-800-SAMSUNG and have your camera sent for service.

The problem is that the lens is jammed. I had to take my camera apart to unjam mine manually, the cogs that move the lens are not lined up with each other, thats why you hear the motor turning and then you get the 3 beeps because the lens hasnt initialised

TRY HARD RESETTING BY REMOVING THE BATTERIES AND LEAVING THE CAMERA OVERNIGHT

I had exactly the same problem. Lens stayed open, when powered on you get three beeps and nothing. I found when I pulled the lens out a little harder it gave a little click. When I powered on it worked perfectly.

called samsung s800 have know power problems return for replacement before warranty expires or they will charge you 58 to fix

A temporary fix to power up is to press the menu and power button at the same time. When the lens is extended and it beeps, on my camera , the lens is *stuck* Give it a gentle tug , then try the power button again

just three months old?- return it to the Vendor for replacement and get onto the Samsung Tech support Team
