Unlocking Jvc dvd/vcr

Hello!
I have a jvc dvd/vcr which plays only certain cd/dvds and does not play vhs tape. when connected the tape does not play. some audio is heard.when specific dvd is played i says it cannot play it as it does not support the region or something like that!Perhaps, both the mode need unlocking so that it plays all cd/dvd's. Pls help me.
Player-jvc model is hr-xvc7 runns on 120 volt.
T.V-Panasonic TC-29F J20CA(29" screen)

How do I get the DVD to record what is on the VHS tape not the TV?

You can record from an external component, such as a camcorder or VCR, connected to any of the Recorder's external inputs.
1. Make sure that the component you want to record from is connected properly to the Recorder. See page 14.

2. Press AUX repeatedly to select the external input to record from.
• AV1: Audio/Video Input mounted on back panel.
• AV2: Audio/Video Input mounted on front panel.
• DV: DV Input mounted on front panel.

If this fails, try to disconnect the tv input cable and connect the vcr cable.

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?

I can play dvds but not vhs. how do i hook it up or program it, etc, so I can watch vhs?

Hi dave
To answer your question;
In order to watch both the dvd and vcr on the same tv input , you need to use the dvd/vcr output of your jvc.
The component output is for the dvd only.
So if you want to keep the component output for high definition when playing a dvd you can connect another rca cable from the dvd/vcr output of your jvc to another input on your tv when playing vhs.

My JVC DR-MV150B plays prerecorded VHS tapes fine.

Try opening the front hatch of the tape by pressing the small, square button on the right or left (short) side of the tape. Check the black tape inside for any marks, dirt, scratches, tears, etc. If the tape is fine then your unit needs to be cleaned with a tape cleaner available at any electronics specialty or retail store. I recorded a dvd and it will not play in any other player.

You must finalize the DVD after recording it. If you post the model of the JVC device, I may be able to find out how to do this for you.

Seinfeld DVD episodes won't play

It is probably not your VCR. If it is only the Seinfeld DVD's then the format that the production company wrote on those few episodes are incompatible with your vcr. I know I'm not solving your problem much, but don't go waste money on a brand new Vcr when not needed.

I was wondering if you tryed unplugging vcr for an hour then
plugging it back up. sometimes this resits it and it will work fine.
the tape might eject itself out or eject button might work.
