We bought the floor model from Best Buy. It didn't have a user's manual. The TV set is not connected to cable, it was bought for it's included DVD player. Since the beginning, the remote did not work with the DVD. Best Buy replaced the remote with a universal one, but this does not work either. It does not start the DVD, forward, pause, etc. the only thing I can adjust with the remote is the volume. I appreciate any help I can get.

You should verify in the user's manual of the remote you mean to buy if your TV brand is listed. Bad new is thart models are not listed. Your TV may appear with several codes You should feed the code according to the instructions and test the remote. It is possible that none of thse codes will work; then your only rsourse might be to scan your remote according to provided procedure, until you get some response from the TV. In worst case, if no code works, you should return the remote to the shop where you bought it and find another one, so maybe buying that remote from some online webstore might not be the best solution
Usually you need a decoder to receive "Cable" With your "Cable" usually you connect the Cable antenna, to the Cable "Box" form the "Box" to the Audio Visual EXTERNAL inputs, in the back of the TV. Now IF your TV can receive the "Cable" directly, then you would have to connect the Antenna, into the rear of the TV, now you would go to the "Tuning" section, and, the TV, would automatically "Search" for any available channels. They would then, be displayed at the end of the scan. Please find a user manual below, this will help you tune in, IF you can. If you cannot, you will have to get a cab;e "Box" and a remote. Hookup to the TV, from the "Box" to the TV, via, Audio and Video cables. You use the "Box's" remote to change channels and volume. You first must set the TV's Volume, & picture setting, the TV, is basically just used as a "Monitor" for the "Box". Hope this helps..

Most universal remotes will work and the code will always come with the remote. There is not one set of universal codes that come with the TV. The codes are remote specific, so if you are looking for a code refer to your remote instructions and manufacturer and not your TV literature. Your best bet to get full functionality is to get a logitec harmony remote. They usually cost a bit more and take more to program but they are the best I have found to absolutely get all the function you could ever get because you can program as many extra buttons as you want. Another option is to call the manufacturer, their number will be listed in the user manual. They can send you the original remote. It may cost somewhere in the range of $15-$50.
Wow - unbelievable - they should be sued. I just bought a floor model that had been returned. The returnee did not return the remote or the manual, so it appeared to be a great buy. Now i believe they bought it purposely for the purpose of taking out the remote and manual and then returning the pc for a refund. Got on here and saw your post, because we too could not find a remote that would work on this tv/vcr combo. - RIDICULOUS!!!
Do you have the cable remote book? The book will be able to tell you what code you need and how to program the cable remote. If you don't have the book for the cable remote call your cable company for it or look for their vans driving around they usual have the book for the remote.
Go to Best Buy and buy the DirectTV Universal Remote Control Model RC64 ($20). It will control both the Satellite Receiver and the Olevia TV (Everything on the Olevia except the A-B-C-D Guide buttons). The Remote Control User Guide lists the control codes, four for the Olevia. The codes are:
Satellite Receiver: 00392
Olevia 235-T12: 11610 (last of the four codes listed for Olevia)
