I have mis placed my owners manual and need to reset my change oil soon light in my 2008 pontiac g6 4cylinder.. how do i do it?

After an oil change, you need to reset the oil change reminder. Your owners manual should have the instructions on this. If not, search on the web for the how to do this.

This should be in your owners manual. here is a snapshot from your owners manual below. There is an optional panael that's a little different but I think it the same procedure to reset. If it's not just post a reply/comment and i should get an email and I will post the optional one. i just needed to look it up. this is the standard one. The change oil light needs to be reset after each oil change...some shops are not knowledgeable on how to do this...Your owners manual will instruct you how to reset the oil change light...The service engine soon is a catch all for low fluids and other needs...Be sure to check your oil level again...to clear the service engine soon light, you can disconnect either battery cable for 15 minutes then reconnect...if the service engine stays on...then you need to have your Grand Am checked...Auto Zone does a free diagnostic of check engine light codes...:)

The oil change light is usually mileage related, and just needs to be reset. It does not know if oil was actually changed or not. Check your owners manual, or stop by a quick lube place for directions on how to reset it. This is not a problem.

Turn on the ignition with engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds
Turn off the ignition

It is in sections 3 and 5 of the owners manual if you ever need to refresh this next time.

To reset "CHANGE OIL" light, turn the ignition switch to the run position without starting the engine. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. and wait for the light to flash. Check your manual it maybe slightly different. Real easy fix.

With the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message displayed, press any of the three DIC buttons to clear the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message. Display "OIL LIFE RESET" on the DIC. Press and hold the "ENTER" button for at least one second. An "ACKNOWLEDGED" display message will appear for three seconds or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the ignition to "OFF". If the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure. on the 3.5 liter you have a dipstick near fire wall

you need to stop by a ford dealer you may have day time running lights and the oil soon i had a mercury once and the oil soon light had a program you had to do in you owner manual and never feel back about your english i be here all of my life and my not to good too.

If you have the optional message center it is on page 144 of your owners manual. Press and release the SETUP
control to display “OIL LIFE =
XXX% then HOLD RESET = NEW”.
