When the color ink container runs out of ink why can i not chose to continue printing in black only without having to replace the color cartridge.
I found this out when trying to do the same with Epson (after talking to their tech support). The printers with printheads that are reusable (Epson, Canon, Kodak, and whoever else) force you to replace the empty cartridge so that air doesn't get drawn into the printhead, killing it off. The tank still has a little ink in there to keep it from drying out. It's cheaper to replace the cartridge than getting a new printhead.
Because Kodak wouldn't then make money from colour cartridges!
