I get white lines along the top portion of the set that will distort images & turn them upside down. the lines go down about 3 inches fr the top of the screen. For example, if I am watching a football game and the scores are shown in a bar at the very top of the screen, my tv will bend them as if the image was going down a waterfall. Thats the best way I can describe it.

HDTV has horzontal lines and distortion.

Based on the symptoms you described, it sounds like there could be an issue with the LCD panel or the T-Con board in your TV. The horizontal lines and distortion may be caused by a faulty connection between the LCD panel and the T-Con board, or it could be a problem with the T-Con board itself. You may want to try some troubleshooting steps to see if you can resolve the issue before contacting a technician. First, check that all of the cables connecting your TV to your devices are securely plugged in. If the issue persists, try resetting the TV to its factory settings. If that still doesn't fix the problem, it's likely that there is a hardware issue and you may need to contact a technician for repair or replacement of the faulty component.

Notice how the "points" are squared off (flattened).

For these, you'll need a "spline bolt socket":

You have a vertical output circuit problem. This was common for Philips' sets. Have a repair shop check it out. Should not be too expensive to repair.

I habve seen this issue with this sets and if the vertical lines are in the menu as well and there are more than one line the panel would need to be replace. Contact a tech in your area to see if then can put the set in white screen mode and leave it there for a couple of hours and see if the lines go away. If not then the set would need a panel.

White Horizontal Lines near the top of my Screen

this symptom is what we called vertical fold-over. vertical fold-over is characterised by a white horizontal bar on the bottom or top of the raster due to the concentration or compression of the trace lines. it an image is present, the bottom or top portion is fold over. this is caused by a vertical deflection current with poor linearity, which compresses the trace lines at the bottom or top of the screen. this symptom is is caused by a defective sawtooth wave genetator circuit, or improper biasing or defective feedback circuit of the vertical drive or vertical output transistor/ic. the negative feedback circuit in vertical deflection circuit compensates for the linearity of the trace portion of the sawtooth wave. a decrease in the capacitance of the sawtooth generator capacitor is usually the trouble. but if you do not understand anything what i have written here, better bring it to a qualified tv technician for your own safety also. good luck!
