After filling with water, will not agitate. Sometimes will work after working control several times.

I don't think this machine has any heating element. Also it's set for cold water. The timer runs through all of the cycles, just won't agitate during wash cycle.

Check that it is actually heating the water. If it is not, I would suspect the heating element needs replacement.
It is programmed to fill with water - then heat it before washing.
If the water does not heat, it will just wait....and wait.

The only other things to check are the main motor and motor control board for faults.

If the machine is over 5 years old, check the carbon brushes on the motor for wear, as these can be cheaply replaced.

Top Loading Hydrowave. Washer fills but won't agitate. After a few minutes water is pumped out and it spins normally.

It almost sounds like the lid switch is working backwards but I have never seen that happen on a GE. The switch either works or goes bad. One other possibility is a defective water level switch. Thats also called a pressure switch sometimes.

Why does my maytag yop loading centennial washer sometimes spin and sometimes not?I can move the washer cycle knob to different cycles and I will still have the same problem

I had the same problem kinda. Does it start to agitate before it fills with water? Its supposed to fill with water, agitate, sense the amount of the load, then fill with the correct amount of water. If it agitates right away then you need a water level/ temperature control sensor. I replaced mine and no longer have the problem of wet clothes at the end of the cycle. The part number is w10248240. Look on you tube for a video on how to replace. The one I saw showed how to diagnose the sensor. The part cost about $90 and it took longer for me to get out my tools than replacing the part. This part goes bad by starting the machine then adding more clothes after it starts. You can also try blowing air down the tube from the back of the sensor. It didn't work for me but was suggested and blowing the air didn't cost anything.

My washer is starting the cycle on agitation not filling completely and on last spin cycle it starts to fill with water.

I found what seems to be an easy fix thatt solved the problem with my Maytag Centential washer that stated agitating before it filled with water. After opening the control panel and tilting it back, just pull the clear plastic hose that attaches to the cycle and leveling switch. Blow into the hose and you will probably feel water that's caught in the hose blow out the other end. Reattach the hose to the cycle and leveling switch. Now test it by starting a cycle and hopefully it works for you like it did for me. If you know how to open the control panel, this fix takes about 2 to 3 minutes start to finish. I feel bad for those people that have mentioned having repairmen replace parts that may know actually be at fault. I doesn't appear to be a bad switch, but instead a poor design the sometimes doesn't clear water from the hose causing the leveling sensor to think water is in the tub. This has now happened twice in the three years I had this washer. I hope this fix works for you if you too have premature agitation for the MVWC6ESWW1 washer.

Whirlpool Thin Twin randomly skips agitation during the cycle.

Did you ever figure this out? Mine agitates but instead doesn't start spinning and draining unless I open the lid. It then "clicks" and starts but it is strange that I have to do this to get it to spin.

Whirlpool washer WTW57ESVW0 won't fill with water. I bought this machine two months ago was working fine and then just stopped filling water. Spin cycle and drain cycle work but it won't start fill...

Solution for WTW57ESVW0 Whirlpool Washer that won't fill or agitate, but will spin and drain water.

Replacing the Auto Load Sensing Switch (W10177795 - Illus. No. 12 on Control and Rear Panel Parts) fixed the problem.

In addition, a defective switch can also cause the machine to start agitating while it is filling.

It is relatively easy to replace and there are online videos that can help with the replacement.

Maytag washer

This is similar to a problem I had after my power suddenly went out while the washer was filling with water. When the power resumed the washer would no longer run water... all other systems (agitate, drain, spin) worked fine.

A 10 minute, $113 dollar service call revealed that there was a fuse inside the front upper left area that had blown. Remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the front panel to get access to the inside.

Check it out and replace it if necessary.
