Bought a Liebherr CUP 2721 fridge freezer on 23/12/09 as old one broke down again (once to often). It is inside a brick outbuilding. We plugged it in but the freezer was not working so as instruction book said turned the switch in fridge up to max. Freezer froze but so did 4 lettuce and salad stuff in the fridge for Christmas. So turned it down to 4.5 and the bread in the freezer thawed out. Have been trying for the last month to sort it but no luck yet. Even at 6 it is not cold enough to keep bread frozen it is just chilled more than it would be in a fridge. At the moment I am using the whole thing as just a fridge (lucky that I have another large upright freezer stood beside it). PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME.
Hi,
With fridge freezers, there is usually a solenoid at the back that controls where the refrigerent goes. It consists of a sealed valve and a solenoid coil. It is possible that this has become open circuit so cannot direct refrigerant to the freezer section.
Another alternative problem may be the thermistor in the freezer section. This sensor will tell the control board the temperature in the freezer section. If it gets it wrong, then the freezer will overcool or not cool at all. Often a manufaturer will standardise on a part, so swapping the fridge and freezer thermistors around can identify that this is the fault - then just buy another 1.
If these tests don't work, you're looking at a new control board. Second hand ones may be available.
Best of luck.
