HELP!! my computer screen keeps going black when i play games :(
My computer screen goes black whenever i try to play stuff like sims 3, counterstrike, and other games like that. before november 6th give or take a week or two, I could run games fine. I have: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz, 2.87 GB Of Ram, Nvidia Gforce 9600 Video card.
what is wrong? I have updated the drivers on my video card and changed the setting so it allows the 3d application to decide what is needs to run it but the screen goes black and the audio freezes, and i have to shut the computer down.

Do you have a security service installed on the PC? IF you are also play g games on the PC and it is underpowered, it van also cause the PC to crash and then automatically re-start.

Go with the lowest graphic settings for the game and see if maybe its not taking to the graphic settings. Go with the lowest one and as you see its working with no problems then go ahead and keep raising the graphic settings until you get to one that is giving you the problem and then stick with the next lowest one from that.
Also if your not playing an original disc for the game but a copied one then that could be another reason your running into problems cause I saw the release date for gran turismo 5 for 11-27-09 so it could be that if your playing a demo it could be buggy or a beta version would also be buggy.
Anyway just a couple of things to try anyway. Let me know how it goes and I'll help you further.
1. Video Driver (download the latest video driver for the video maker) 2. Wrong resolution is being used. try step 3 3. Use a lower one 800x600 or 640x480 4. Monitor can't handle the Video Card set to the max try step 3 5. Video Card is faulty (replace it)
