I have an Eiki EIP 2500 at my church. I have recently run into a problem with the remote not turning on the projector. I can turn on the projector manually from the button on top. When I try to use the remote, though, it won't turn on or off. I have brand new batteries in the remote. Also, if I uplug the projector, and hold the power button for about 10 seconds, then plug the projector back up, sometimes the remote will work, but the next time I go to turn the projector on it won't turn on via the remote. I have no idea how to go about troubleshooting or fixing this. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Try cleaning the IR port on the projector (and the remote itself). These can get enough of a dust layer build up that they can't "see" the infrared signal being sent.
My electronics tech background would suspect the remote itself is going bad. If you have a learning remote somewhere that you could try learning the power on/off code of the original remote (since they are placed only a few inches apart, you could most likely still get a learning remote to work). Then, if the remote will turn the unit on and off, you'll know it is time to replace the remote. The IR receivers usually don't go bad, although it is not impossible.

Actually, I forgot to mention that I had thought of that and went over the LED on both the remote and the IR port on the projector with isopropyl rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
homedesigner, I had a sneaking suspicion that might be the problem, but I wasn't sure if remotes go bad. I appreciate the assistance. It looks like I'll just have to order a replacement remote for it. Thanks!
