I have a 2006 Saturn Vue. The front passenger door will not latch. Is there some way to latch it so the door doesn't open?
With door opened if the latch is in closed position [meaning that the latch looks like a sideways V with a piece that comes across opening when latch comes down locking around door pin ]opened is latch looks like just a sideways V ---if closed spray with a lube {wd40-rustbuster-etc}first than with a pencil-screwdriver or something u can put behind the latch lock piece lift outside door handle /than push latch forward the latch should move and be in opened position spray lube in latch again to loosen latch try to close door may take a few times for the latch to free up when cold out the vue and the chevy equinox have problems with door latches=== if door latch is just flopping up and down no resistance latch spring broken and will need to replace =====
There is a spring inside the door lock that makes it work this spring is most likely broken try spraying lubricant on the lock just in case its binding ,but it seems like you will have to replace the lock mechanism
Look at the latch on the end of the door and make sure that the latch is open. You will want to spray the latch with some lube.If it is not open you can flip it with your finger or a screwdriver while holding the door handle like you are opening the door. You can look at the latch on the other door to see what it looks like open.Well hope this helps.
