My subs are skipping notes and only play low notes decently and only play when the volume is at full blast. The amp wiring is fine and the radio wiring seems alright. No idea why it is

First of all the bass needs to be tuned down on stereo you shouldn't need to turn volume fill blast then you set your amp so your subs sound good hope you have a cross over. Never tune the gain on your amp past 3/4 ether play with you air flow to that some times works I found that if you do this your bass gets louder less risk blow

I have hooked this up to a working reciever that

Fill in the blanks about the working receiver.

You mention another subwoofer, which suggests your receiver manages the bass and possibly sends most or all of it to the sub.

If it's NOT sending the bass to the speaker terminals you use to drive the AM5 that would explain it's virtually silent bass module.

If those speaker terminals on your receiver can be set to LARGE, do it. Otherwise they assume the speakers are incapable of handling bass.

2 sony XS-L102P5 subs, sound great with deep bass but cones chatter when I hit them real hard

There is a possibility that you may be overpowering or under-powering your speakers with the amp you are currently using or are playing notes below the specified range of "Hz" of the subwoofer causing the sub to sound distorted or as you would call it "chattering".
If the speakers range is 130hz-45hz and your playing notes at 30hz and dont have it tuned at the crossover either on the amp or the stereo to suit the subwoofer, the speaker will try and play the note regardless and will cause the cones to move beyond its range and may cause it to slap the magnet which can damage the subwoofer if consistently played that way. Please let me know if this solved your problem..

I have a few problems. i have 2 amps and 4 subs. first problem is when i connect one amp to my speakers it just hisses and crackles. this never happened before. when i turn up the gain to try and get...

The first amp, sounds like there is straight power going through the gain instead of it being limited. The second amp...hook the other subs up to it and see if it sounds ok. If so, then the subs are messed up. If it sounds the same, make sure the subs are connected correctly.

I have a sony 100 watt amp and it wont stay on for very long

You need more current.Bass notes require more juice and the best way to get more power for bass is to add a power capacitor to your system . They are easy to install and you can get one for less than a hundred dollars that should be enough for your amp and subs.

My amp is protecting unessacarily when ran at 2 ohms

are you factoring the ohm rating from running them parallel?

2 x 2o subs parallel = 0.5 ohm (lowers ohm's)

2x 2oh subs series = 4 ohm

IT is posable that you are calculating the ohm rating fine, BUT some SUBS can reach lower ohm rating while hitting bass- i didnt know this till i had a rather insane sub that would dip to 1ohm while hitting hard bass causing my amp to go into protect mode.

"cracking" noise

Your subwoofer is not capable of playing as loud as you want it to. That sound is the woofer reaching its limit. If you have any bass tone setting on your receiver set them to flat. If there are any other bass settings i.e contour, loudness boost etc turn them off. You can also try putting the woofer into a corner. This will increase the output. Closer to you would also be louder. Otherwise you need a sub with more output. Don't let the power rating fool you when you get a new one.
