Jimmy the door back and forth, up and down until you get it out. Carefully. Two people helps. There are two metal hooks at the bottom left and corners. The upper one hangs up on a "catch" inside the slot, and you just need to navigate that. Carefully. We had one side come unlatched so needed to be careful not to pull that side out too far to cause too much torque. You'll get it.
Once the door is out, grab a phillips screwdriver. Look for a thin rectangular white piece of plastic (one in each corner, about 4" x 5") that covers the hinges on each side. Unscrew the upper and lower outside screws on that. Take it off. May need to pour warm water on it if it is iced on. It may be taped on but it comes off.
Now you can access the "hooks" better. Have someone hold the door steady (in upright position). Pull the upper hook down (takes a little strength) and then pivot the weird little piece of metal on the lower hook until it fits into the upper hook (temporarily latching them together). Repeat for other side.
Then carefully lift the door into place and slide both "latched" hooks into the interior slots. Helps to have two here. The drawer needs to be out so you can access the hooks and slots. Once the hooks are in the slots, grab that phillips again. Have someone hold a little pressure on the door to keep it in place, and gently pry the weird little pivoting metal piece away from the upper hook with the phillips. Repeat for the other side.
Now push the door into place carefully. Hopefully it will latch up the way it is supposed to on both sides and you will have your freezer (and happy wife) back. Happy wife, happy life! Good luck!

Amana freezer door doesn't fully shut

There is a drain inside the freezer part of the arb2257csr. The drain can get clogged and the water from the defrost process will pool up on the bottom of the freezer. You can gain access to the back of the unit and remove the pan drain to clean it out. Then make sure water flows and ice is not blocking the drain. It takes a long time to melt so I used a turkey baster and put hot water into the drain from the lower inside middle of the freezer. This drain pan can get pretty smelly when rancid oils and such don't evaporate the way it was designed to evaporate the water. The symptoms were ice on the inside bottom and water pooling in the front of the drawer. It also became very hard to close the door due to the frozen door slide. I have not seen anyone report this on any site so far. Everyone talks about the thermostat but no one seems to have arteriosclerosis of the drain tube.

The water supply hose where it enters the door at the bottom has cracked and broken how do we replace the hose in the door

The line going into the dispenser is a 5/16 line. You'll have to remove the front of the dispenser on the door to get access to the line to unclip it. Once you have that done you can pull the line out from the bottom. At this point there are a variety of different unions, compression fittings, etc. to splice the line. After that you just feed the line back through the bottom of the door, clip it back in place, put the dispenser back together and your done.

Gss25jfmc side by side

it is not defrosting as it should.
  • possible causes:
  1. bad defrost timer/control board
  2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
  3. bad thermo switch in freezer
If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items.
