You need to do a xclamp mod you have the same problem as rrod. You need a heat hot air gun off ebay pretty cheap to reflow the cpu and gpu.

My xox 360 showing error message system error the error no is e73

Hi, the e73 error is telling you the same error as the red ring of death so the following will tell you what it means first of all check if you have any warranty as this fault is covered by 3 years warranty from microsoft, so check the date on the back of the xbox, if its less than 3 years old go to their website and enter your details and they will send you out another xbox in place of yours.

if its more than 3 years old or if its been opened before then you have 2 options either pay someone to fix it or fix it yourself.

now if your going to fix it yourself use google and type in how to fix rrod on xbox 360 then hit search and have a look at some of the sites, now the chances are the gpu chip will need reflowing now this can be done with a heat gun on its lowest setting, but getting this wrong can do more harm than good.

the best thing to try first is the xclamp fix, go and buy a xbox 360 repair kit off ebay make sure you get the heat sink paste with it, you can get these kits for next to nothing and if you find one with a repair guide then that will make it easier for you, without these parts you wont be able to fix the xbox anyway.

dont do the towel trick it dont work and it causes more harm to the circuit board so dont try that one.

just use google type in how to fix rrod on xbox 360 and look for a guide that shows you how to replace the x clamps with normal machine screws and renew the heat sink paste, its not hard to do and you will get a guide off google with pictures so im sure you can give it a go.

if how ever replacing the clamps dont solve the problem then use google again and type in how to fix rrod with heat gun on xbox 360 then hit search then look through the sites and look for a decent guide that shows you how to do this, dont use a hair dryer like some sites may suggest they just dont get hot enough to reflow the damaged solder under the gpu and cpu chip.

if you do use a heat gun make sure the circuit board is lying flat if its not you will do alot more harm than good so make sure its level.

i cant point you to these sites as its against site police but use google and you will find all you need and you should be able to get it sorted. if its less than 3 years old and you open it up then your warranty will be void and microsoft wont even look at it,

now i repair these for 20 quid plus parts so it comes to about 25 quid, but im in UK and the chances are your somewhere else in the world.

if you are unsure what your doing then please dont try repairing this yourself as you could do a lot more harm than good.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

My xbox 360 has the RROD Error code 0110 Need Help Fixing

If you truly were able to re-solder the memory module joints and are still getting this error, then make sure there is NO dust in the vents and heat sinks. Otherwise, the memory solder still needs to be re-flowed. There are many ways to do this. If you have an infrared soldering apparatus you are all set :D, but if you have one of those you are not the type to be asking how to fix electronics here. Here is a decent tutorial on reflowing with a heat gun:

The other method is an oven... bit trickier. I'd stick to a heat gun.

Code E74

e74 or rrod error means that there is an hardware issue.
What you need to do is a very simple and cheap repair.
look on ebay for x clamp repair kits, these are just a few bucks and most sellers include a good guide in how to do the mod/fix.
what causes the rrod or e74 error is the X shape clamp on the underside or the mother board bending and mis-shaping causing the ball soldering on the gpu/cpu slightly melting and forming hairline cracks in the solder.
The x-clamp kit will apply more pressure to the gpu/cpu and a little trick of disconnecting the fans and turning on the xbox and allowing it to overheat will re melt the solder ball joints to fill the hairline cracks.
Depending on which chip is the issue you may also need a 2000 watt heat gun instead of using the over heating method (the gpu chip).
Replacing the heat pads on the heat sink with thermal paste which comes with the kit will keep the gpu/cpu cooler and you wont have this issue again.
Please make sure you buy the kit which comes with heat treated nylon washers as the steel spring washes fail!.
The repair takes around 1-2 hours
I hope this helps in fixing you xbox.
Bewarned that opening your console voids any warranty on it, i would recommend contacting microsoft to see if it is still under warrenty as this could be a free fix by them

3 red lights and green in the middle. have already tried the towel around it and that did'nt work.

what you have is commonly known as the RROD, or Red Ring Of Death. what this normally means is that your xbox 360's GPU, or Graphics Processing Unit, has over heated to the extent that it has warped the motherboard and desoldered it's self from the motherboard.

Here's a few tutorials on how to fix this. Keep in mind though, always send it in if you still have warranty. that's the best way to make sure that's it's done right.

GPU Error. Code 0022 on my xbox 360

There is a very simple fix to this issue and I am not sure why it is not being talked about. I will have to make a video and post it for everyone to see, but in short, you need to overheat the GPU while keeping the CPU cool.
Now, if you do not know what you are doing, I would wait until I make a video about it. However, if you are comfortable taking your Xbox apart then it is simple.
You will need to disaseble the box all of the way down to removing the top cover and exposing the board. You do not need to remove the DVD or the fan, however you will need to take off the plastic piece that vents the fan air into the heat sinks. After you get that far, take the fan out of the case. DO NOT UNPLUG IT, as you will need it. Just pull it out of its holding spot. Next, you will want to move the DVD drive off to the side, away from the GPU heat sink, but leave it plugged in. Then set the fan on top of the CPU heat sink, the taller one, so that it does not overheat. Then turn your system on and let it RROD, then leave it on for about 10-15 min. What this will do is overheat the GPU and reflow the solder underneath it. After 10-15 min, turn your system off, let it cool, put it back together, and you should be good to go! I have done this on 3 systems that came up with error codes related to the CPU or GPU, and all 3 are now working again. Good luck!
