Sony KDS-R60XBR1 will not come on sometimes. the standby light just flashes continuously and after awhile just stays lit up like it would be if the tv was on but still no picture or sound. no red flashes at all. i can unplug it and plug it back in several times and get it to come on and have no problems. the fans dont kick on at the back untill the tv is going to come on, but when the light just keeps flashing there is no fans. any ideas of what it could be?
well if the lamp fan is the bigger one you can see from the back of the tv then that doesnt work. as i unplug the tv both the fans on the back will kick around for just a short surge then when i plug it back up i still have nothing. if i mess with it for about 20 minutes it eventually comes on. each time i plug it back up it makes like a click click sound, and i can tell when it finally is going to come on before it does because i can hear everything start up in it. i will try the fan again if you are pretty sure thats it. thanks alot for the help!well if the lamp fan is the bigger one you can see from the back of the tv then that doesnt work. as i unplug the tv both the fans on the back will kick around for just a short surge then when i plug it back up i still have nothing. if i mess with it for about 20 minutes it eventually comes on. each time i plug it back up it makes like a click click sound, and i can tell when it finally is going to come on before it does because i can hear everything start up in it. i will try the fan again if you are pretty sure thats it. thanks alot for the help!

Sounds like your light engine might have broken. Its around a $400 fix and I noticed Tri-State is having a sell on there about 341 its easy to replace it here is the link http://www.tristatemodule.com/casearch.aspx?SearchTerm=kds-r60xbr1&asug=&view=grid&lang=en
The blinking green light signals that the inverter board is charging the bulb. If the blinking goes to red it means that this process has failed because either the inverter board is not full operational or the bulb itself has failed.
Most likely you will have to replace the bulb - here it is http://www.partstore.com/Part/Sony/Sony/KDSR60XBR1/Royal+Philips+Electronics/Philips+Lighting/F93087600RL/New.aspx If this doesn't fix it then you will have to check the inverter and power boards and replace the failing one. Here is the ballast/inverter http://www.partstore.com/Part/Sony/Sony/KDSR60XBR1/Sony/Sony/146893613/New.aspx Here is the power board http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-KDS-R60XBR1-G-POWER-SUPPLY-1-867-733-11-Free-S-H-/120703310513
