Your model number sounds like a sears craftsmen model and it is equipped with a push and twist drain plug it is black with a yellow cap near the bottom of the engine just above the frame always start ther draining the oil out then remove the filter if applicable and replace. Then fill with oil to the full mark start engine run for about 20 seconds then shut off and recheck oil and fill as needed

That Briggs engine is not a good engine it has a weak governor gear that is known to come apart for no reason what so ever it may have done so and some of the parts stopped the cam gear from turning. Good luck!
