The serial number should have come with the product.
If you have the CD it should be on the CDs envelope or on the box somewhere.
When you run the activation (should come up automatically the first time you run AutoCAD, but can be run from the menus too). an activation dialog should come up showing the activation code. The program can be activated over the internet, if you choose to do that it should be more or less automatic.
The program can also be activated over the telephone. If you choose to do that then call the number provided and give them the code number from the dialog and they will give you the activation code.
Enter the code in the dialog and the program will be activated.
You are still using AutoCAD R14? If you are that might be the problem. If you are running Vista, then AutoCAD R14 might be too old of a version to run. You will probably need to upgrade to a newer version of AutoCAD. I know this isn't a solution, but I am just trying to look at it from a different point of view. You can also go to autodesk.com and join their discussion groups. It is free and you can post questions. You usually get a fast response with an answer that really helps. I will do a little more research and add more when I get a chance. Good luck and I hope that I helped.
First off you might want to take the serial number out of your post via the edit command. its valuable.
