Just dropped an object on hob cracking the glass covering, can it still be used and will I need to replace the whole unit?

That Samsung model number is an oven. You possibly have a samsung c61r2aee hob. The warranty is usually 2 years from new, so if it is still in that time you can try for a replacement although warranty would not cover breakage caused by dropping something on it, so you may have to lie.

You can get replacement glass for it, the cost depending on where you are. Replacement goes like this

The cheapest option is to araldite the crack (assuming it's not over the hot part!) and live with it. I doubt it is economically viable to replace the glass, it will be quicker and easier to replace the hob if you can get one with the same hole size. The only way it would be cheaper is if you find a second hand one on an auction site. You might be covered on your buildings insurance but a claim won't be cost free.

You need to buy the new glass top without the elements, there is no fixing it, or should not be fixed, it should be replaced.

I looked up your cooktop and discovered it to be made by Frigidaire.
Hence & therefore, try the website "searspartsdirect" and see of they will give you schematics to buy the parts for your needs.

Did you crack your hob by means of impact or did it happen on its own accord?
I have a neff induction hob and has just cracked in 3 directions while cooking this evening. I am just trying to determine if there is a common fault with this neff product or I am just unfortunate. Mine is under warranty and have a engineer coming on Monday, so have the whole weekend with no hob as I have been advised not to use it.

A small crack, turns into a big crack, Short of ordering a new piece of glass, there is no "fix" sorry. YOu can continue to use it, but eventually it will run across the cook top, and then shatter the glass... Better be safe than sorry.

Hi. Yes you can buy a new glass. Most of the come with frame top now. If you get me the model # I can look this up for you and get you an idea on cost.

You should be able to replace the top only.
Normally if this is your fault, it is not covered by warranty. Normally this would be if you dropped something onto it. This would leave like a star shap series of cracks.
If its down to manufacture, this should be covered under warranty. This damage normally looks like just one long crack, no impact mark.
