On the top screen horizontal red lines keep moving up and down the screen causing it to flicker and take on a slightly red colour

This is most likely caused by either a loose connection or a faulty screen.
If it's under warranty i'd suggest sendng it in otherwise you can either take it to a local repair shop or repair it yourself.
Firstly when
you take the ds apart disconnect the top screen and then
re-attatch it just to be sure if its the connection or not, if a
re-connection works then your sorted... if not you will have to replace
the screen.
The screen can be bought from
ebay. You will also have to do a bit of
soldering as the speakers will need to be removed from the old screen
and soldered onto the new one.
