Chipping away ice in magic chef freezer section i punctured freon line in freezer panel can refridge still get cold

that liquid is what keeps ur frige cold!

First your freezer does not use R-134a. That is for auto air conditioners only. It uses R-12. You need refrigeration compound gauges, R-12 refrigerant and a two devices that connects to and punctures the lines and gives you a port to connect the hoses from the refrigeration compound gauges. You must have a refrigeration leak if you need to add refrigerant. The leak needs to be repaired or you will lose the refrigerant in a short time again.

What is the complete model number of your unit?

Has this happened suddenly? Look at the shelves to see if there is a frost line. If the shelves that also carry the Freon appear to have a frost line your freezer may have a Freon leak. You have a defrost system issue! DON'T chip any more ice!! EEEKKS! You are lucky you didn't puncture the freon line! There is no repairing a punctured freon line!! We will send the correct parts to you if you will please provide your model number for this unit. Once you replace this defrost system. you will not have any more icing up issues. You must, however, defrost the unit out before you replace the defrost system. You can do this by unplugging your unit for at least a whole day and by placing a fan in front of the opened up unit to allow it to thaw out PROPERLY. BTW: I love the Electrolux Icon appliances. Sound like you punctured one of the molded channels in the freezer shelf that carries the refrigerant.  Probably can't be fixed.  Possibly could be replaced.  Consult a service technician if the fridge is new enough to keep.  If it does not have an auto-defrost or frost-free function it is probably too old to be worth repairing.

he may have punctured a freon line you will know for sure if it stops cooling.

Check defrost termination relay

check the fan relay and the compressor to make sure it is still working...if not there is a capasiter you can replace to get it to work again

You will have to check the defrost drain in the freezer by removing either the back or bottom of the freezer . Thaw ice if found in freezer and check to see if the drain hole is clear. Do not use anything to chip at the ice. Clear ice by warming it with warm water or possibly a hair dryer.
