With the compressor running, open the freezer and listen if the fan is running. If it is not, replace it. Most likely, this is your problem.

If it is running, turn off the refrigerator. Remove the rear panel from the freezer. Inspect the coils. If they are covered in ice, let them thaw completely. This ice will prevent the freezer and consequently, the refrigerator from getting cold.

If the fan works and the freezer coils are not cold, then I am afraid it is time for another refrigerator.

Fisher & Pykel RF610A sporadically tripping house circuit breaker.

It may be the power circuit breaker. I had a similar problem with my oven and it turned out to be a loose connection to the breaker. Try plugging the fridge in to another power outlet.

Fridge trips the breaker after about 4-5 hours. What causes that?

Motor could be burning out and drawing too much power. If it's old not worth repairing.

Upright freezer trips circuit after moving across room

If compressor is hot, it could be an issue with the starting components. Let it cool down for about an hour an it is room temperature to the touch. If the breaker trips when the compressor attempts to start, I would look at the start components. It may be just a case of unusual timing that they went bad at this time. Make sure there is nothing else on the circuit you have it plugged into. Could be an overloading issue of the circuit.

My FFA70 fridge/freezer is causing my circuit breaker to trip, when I reset the circuit breaker the fridge/freezer will work again, but both the red bight temp warning light and the freezer defrost light...

kevinmdoyle... Hello and welcome to FIXYA,

Yours is a UK model... so I (usa) can't help you
on SPARES (motor start capacitor) ... however

Circuit breakers do go bad...!!
(easiest & cheapest to check first)

MUCH Easier to test the idea than you would imagine:
- Shut OFF your main breaker.
- Open your panel & swap the wire with an EQUAL breaker
- Tag the wires (to restore when finished trouble shooting)
- Restore the main breaker (wait & see)...

and don't forget to clean that CONDENSOR
per owner manual instructions.

If the failure persists... RESORE the BREAKERS.
and
HOPE it is the START CAPACITOR on your compressor.

Fridge freezer shorting out electrics

The cause of this situation could simply be an overloaded circuit. Homes are built with dedicated circuit for fridge only now because of this. If you notice power outage in other rooms or other appliances in kitchen then the circuit affected,I.E. other outlets affected need the load lightened. If it is a dedicated circuit then could be faulty breaker or possibly altered wiring could be cause. These have to be ruled out before you will know for sure. If it isn,t dedicated outlet for fridge only, just plugging in a light could overload loaded circuit.

Amana sxd524v fridge-freezer tripped out the power

Hi, you can check if there is a fanmotor on the condenser section and make sure that it is working. Second, you can try replacing the starter relay which you will find in the connection area of the compressor. If this does not work, I am afraid you would have to have the compressor replaced.

Fridge not working

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:

  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay

If you are unable to troubleshoot the problem from here, you may need to contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Suddenly tripped off house

Hi akula, 200 ks to a fridgie, LG appliance, you must be in Australia;) Is it the earth leakage circuit breaker operating. If so, then you have a leakage problem to earth from the heater pad(not quite sure what that is, but this problem will need to be repaired. Am doing some research to see if there is anything that can be done without just getting a new fridge. Back to you soon.

regards
Graeme
